23.01.2022 This is Matt of Jardine's Cafè. Matt and his family took ownership of Jardine's Cafe in 2018 and the cafe has been their life ever since. With 15 staff, Matt and the Jardine's team have created a warm, welcoming retreat to sit down to coffee and cake while catching up with friends and family. There's a real sense of community at Jardine's. A large notice board is pinned to the left wall as you enter detailing how supporting Jardine's Cafe also supports the lives of their sta...ff, from first cars to weddings to VISA applications. Jardine's have also hired an employee through the Kurrajong Waratah Employment Program. Above all else, Matt and the team want to make sure Jardine's Cafe is accessible to everyone - all dietary requirements are catered for to the best of the team's ability and there's even a kid's lounge for families with children. 'The best part about it is the people I get to deal with daily. Our staff, the customers... It's great!' - Matt #waggafaces #visitwagga #supportlocal

19.01.2022 Meet Elle and Dane of the Riverina Comedy Club. The Riverina Comedy Club came about in 2015 after Dane started his career in comedy. From performing and watching comedy clubs & open mics in places like Sydney & Melbourne, Elle and Dane wondered why there wasn’t more of it in regional areas like Wagga so set to work about making it happen. Soon after the idea came to them, Elle & Dane found that Wagga really didn’t have a place for local, home-grown talent to develop their com...edic craft. Since starting as five locals performing what was essentially an open-mic night, Riverina Comedy Club is now made up of over 50 local comedians from Wagga and around the region. These comedians come from such a diverse range of backgrounds. You may know them from your local supermarket or from the pub. They’re everyday people who have their own story to share. Riverina Comedy Club run workshops with the local performers at least once a month. These workshops are designed as a brainstorming session where local people can come along & work with like-minded creative individuals. They are free to attend and are open to anyone who is interested in getting into comedy. Elle & Dane believe it’s important to create a sense of community and family among performers because 'Doing stand up comedy can be difficult, you are quite vulnerable when you put yourself out there on stage for a room full of strangers. As much as our workshops are about refining jokes and practicing they’re also about building comradery amongst peers.'. ‘There are so many things I love about Riverina Comedy Club. I love the feeling of joy that we are providing and sharing with both audiences & performers. We work with some of these local people for months before they even perform on stage. I love the moment I hand them the microphone and they walk on stage for the very first time and get their first huge laugh. It’s so special.’ - Elle 'I like that we are providing the people of Wagga Wagga a voice. So many comedians come from these larger cities and I think we have a uniqueness in regional NSW that needs to be heard.’ - Dane #waggafaces #visitwagga #supportlocal

12.01.2022 This is Angela and David of Crestia by Andersens. David and Angela Smit started their own family business Crestia by Andersens, formerly Crestia Carpets, only four weeks ago! A brand new business to Wagga, the Smit family are here to create positive and memorable experiences for anyone looking to build or renovate. David has been installing floors for more than 20 years and both he and Angela had considered starting their own flooring store for some time. With David's install...ation skills and Angela's love for meeting and helping people, the two want to provide the best experience for their clients from the day they select a style of flooring to the day the installation is finished. 'It's getting to know people so that we can help them pick out the perfect flooring for their home or project and seeing the excitement of it all coming together in their minds. That's what we enjoy most.' - Angela #waggafaces #visitwagga #supportlocal

02.01.2022 Meet Nick from The Wild Vine. Nick and his partner Kate purchased the old Wagga Wagga Winery on the outskirts of town in July 2018 and have breathed new life into a beautiful, rustic venue to create The Wild Vine. With Nick having an extensive hospitality background and Kate having worked as a wedding and event planner, the prospect of starting The Wild Vine was an exciting opportunity for them both. Nick and Kate have learned a great deal and are proud to have their first vi...ntage coming very soon! It's been quite a journey but Nick and Kate couldn't have done it without their bar manager, Connor Crawford, their wonderful part time staff and the support of an incredible community of local winemakers. When it comes to hosting weddings and events, there couldn't be a more unique location. With windows from the old Wagga Hospital and doors from the original Prince of Wales pub, The Wild Vine is full of character. It is one of several great venues turning our city into a must-see destination. 'Doing functions is the big thing. It's this massive lead up, there's stress and organising, but at the end of the night, to see the bride and groom with a great big grin on their face and everything has run smoothly and they've had a great time, that's it. That's why we do it.' - Nick #waggafaces #visitwagga #supportlocal
