13.01.2022 Happy Navratri Festival 17 October 2020 25 October 2020 This important Hindu festival of Navratri, which spans over nine nights. It is also known as D...urga Puja, this festival is celebrated for different reasons with different rituals across various regions and Hindu community around the world. Each day of the festival is associated with one of the nine incarnations of the Mother Goddess, seeds of inner renewal are sown, sprouting, watched and worshiped by devotees during Navratri and people dress in a specific colour on each day to symbolise different characteristics with positive energy. For the Hindu community, Navratri is a festival which represents motherhood, as Shiva is said to have given permission for Goddess Durga to visit her mother for nine days of the year. During this time, many families return home to celebrate the bonds between family members and spend time with their loved ones. COVID-19 has presented difficulties and challenging times for families and communities to be together to celebrate the festival this year. We are thinking of you and sending our thoughts and best wishes to leaders and community members. We have a large, vibrant and diverse Hindu community in South Australia with many active and passionate community organisations which have greatly contributed to our community. We would especially like to express our gratitude to all the community leaders and volunteers who have donated time, effort, and financial resources to assist vulnerable members of the community during the pandemic. The Premier, Government of South Australia and I send our best wishes to everyone in the Hindu community of South Australia as you enjoy CovidSafe celebrations with your family and friends during Navratri. May Goddess Durga shower her blessings on you and your family. Wishing you excellent health, strength, wisdom, courage to get on top of COVID and look towards a bright future ahead. HAPPY NAVRATRI! Hon. Steven Marshall MP Premier of South Australia Hon. Jing Lee MLC Assistant Minister to the Premier
