It is a process that is important to the health & maintenance of your car &, if done properly, is an excellent preventative maintenance procedure. Your owner's manual will give you a schedule of when your transmission oil should be changed, but we are finding, increasingly, that this is something that is overlooked. So many vehicles are coming into our workshop with seriously burnt t...ransmission oil. Yes, transmission oil change is an extra expense on your basic service but to spend a couple of hundred extra dollars on a transmission flush every 40,000km would be infinitely preferable to a couple of thousand dollars on a new transmission!! A FLUSH involves a professional grade machine to completely flush all the transmission fluid and remove grime and contaminants. The lines come completely clean and the system is filled with new fluid. A CHANGE simply drains the fluid. Not all the fluid will be drained (only about 20% to 40%) and the contaminants remain.
