24.01.2022 SEASON UPDATE The Hunter Academy of Sport has made the difficult decision to withdraw its Hunter Netball teams from the Dooley’s Metro League competition. Our netball community is very split about continuing to play on, but our organisation has put the health & safety of our athletes, their wider families & the community ahead of our desire to compete in Sydney.... As a registered COVID Safe Business. we believe we have a responsibility as a Hunter based community organisation to do our part in reducing the spread. We understand many will be disappointed with the decision, but we believe the safety of our athletes always come first. To our coaches, officials, sponsors, athletes & their families we thank you so much for your commitment to represent the region & we cannot wait to get on the other side and be back on court as soon as possible. #hunternetball
23.01.2022 FREE COACHING WORKSHOP As part of the 2020 Your Local Club Academy Games, the Office of Sport, in conjunction with the Regional Academies of Sport NSW, ...will be hosting a FREE workshop aimed at regional coaches from the Hunter & beyond! Friday 3rd April 5:00pm - 6:30pm PCYC Newcastle, Broadmeadow (directly across from the Opening Ceremony venue) Dr. Juanita Weissensteiner, Principle Advisor of Talent Pathways at the Office of Sport will be joined by Newcastle Sports Medicine Physiotherapist Tim Schneider & Hunter Academy of Sport's in-house Sports Psychologist Fiona McCarthy on a Sports Pathways Panel covering topics such as athlete care, pathway and talent recognition, load management and much more. Lifeline Australia will be presenting their 'Mind Your Sports Mates Program' - a Sports-based workshop focused on Regional coaches identifying "at risk" young athletes and promoting awareness about mental health in athletes. The girls played a strong first half that set the game up to be won with their defense end winning a lot of ball throughout the entire match! ... 03.01.2022 Hunter Netball UPDATE The Metro League competition will not commence as scheduled and all training should now cease in line with this guidance. The Metro League competition structure and draw is currently being reviewed and all changes will be communicated at the earliest opportunity. Currently the competition will not commence prior to Monday 4 May, subject to the update which will be provided on 15 April.
