15.01.2022 Did you know Hype-O Performing Arts Academy was founded by Miss Belinda Curmi after a one year commitment to a musical fundraiser the Warriors bell where Miss Belinda dedicated an entire year of time raising awareness and funds for The Kids Cancer Project. Mentoring and leading young children to learn and work for the greater good of the community. Our doors were open because many of those students were not prepared to part ways with their teacher after the pro...gram was complete. Since then we have volunteered and donated services to many non-for-profits and charities. And we will continue to do so no matter what! An extra special mention to another very gorgeous small Australian business El Earl Photography who played a vital role in setting that 2018 program up! It is NOW, now is the time to watch closely, think carefully and support small Businesses!! NOW!

We are lucky enough at this terrible time to live in an era where we can continue our teachings via online and we plan to do just that! ... Factors we strongly took into consideration: Numerous students who have varying medical conditions Our Greatly respected and loved health care parents. (We love and appreciate you always, but at this time in particular) we wish to send you a million -trillion Thankyous!!! The strong concerns of a huge majority of our current families The only reason the government has given us about the delay to lockdown is financial and healthcare workers needing childcare options to keep up with demand of healthcare needs. We know this is a huge change, and believe us when we say we dont have a handbook for a global shutdown! But we are working through it, and what we can guarantee is we are going to be there for our families in ways that are greater than dance! We feel we have made the right decision. 12.01.2022 WE THEATRE PIECES Check out this FLASHBACK routine performed by our gorgeous and much loved Madelyn from the 2019/2020 comp season. This piece took out 1st place against very strong Technical dancers because of its acting/theatre content!! ... The beauty of a musical theatre routine is that the children must learn to portray a character.. Acting is such a huge element of dance and here at Hype-O we believe taking musical theatre is a great way to work on your acting abilities while not surrendering the dance element. Musical Theatre Dance sets children up for a future in other areas of performance, and creates foundations and platforms for them to extend their portfolio in the future should they choose to! 09.01.2022 COVID-19 and Dance with Hype-O Hi everyone, I just wanted to take a moment to address the elephant in the room (or studio in this case). While we have been very quiet about the coronavirus we have been following instructions from both national and international health societies and have now put in place a very carefully and well thought out plan on what to do should this progress into something bigger. ... If you could take the time to read both what we are doing now and what we will do in the instance of a shut down so that you are well informed on Hype-Os plan of attack that would be fantastic. NOW: we are sanitising hands at the beggining of every class. we are no longer going to be using props, balls or shared equiptment. contact from now on will be limited between staff and students and we will strongly encourage the same between students. rock and roll classes will have 2 hand washing breaks in each class as well as be required to sanitise hands every 20 minutes SELF QUARANTINE is compulsory if you have travelled to risk areas or been exposed to a confirm case as per Ausgov advice. IN THE EVENT OF UNAVOIDABLE CLOSURE: In the event of an unavoidable Closure we will be offering classes via online video. Children will continue to learn choreography and then we will have group video calls to ask questions and assure children of their dance content. Whilst schools remain open, we dont believe dance in groups of 15 or less students (which is the typical class size) is detrimental to anyones health and so we will continue to offer our amazing programs until further notice from the authorities health departments. NEW ENROLMENTS: If you are interested in enrolling rest assured regardless of future happenings, classes will remain accessible regardless. We will continue to update you as things unfold and will take the upmost care in ensuring a healthy and positive dance environment for your children.

06.01.2022 F . L . A . S . H . B . A . C . K How much fun we have had already this term. So many new friendships have been formed, the atmosphere is always warm and the kids are always smiling! ... Our Term 1 and Term 2 programs have a very strong focus on the pirouette and leap.. having a wide range of abilities, we believe in teaching children from the START.. and not expecting beginner dancers to play catch ups in their own time. This year we introduced levelled classes into our academy for our core classes. The levels are only known by colour names (Purple group and Green Group for example) rather than graded names. The children don’t actually know that their colour is a level.. and we love this! It has created a seamless progression in our students, both beginner and elite. There is no rush for the newer dancer to pick up a skill, and no need for the more advance dancer to slow down. Students are now developing skills at a much faster rate as they are provided content that is appropriate to where they are in their dance journey! We understand that one size does not fit all! I mean, have you ever tried to get into a pair of pants with a tag that says OS ..it’s sooooooo not a thing! And that stands true to dance too! Term 1 has been a roaring success so far and we are only half way through! We cannot wait to see what these Kids do with the rest of their year! Stay tuned for another flashback soon! Miss B Xx
