24.01.2022 THE CURSE OF THE STRASSBURG DIAMOND | A few weeks ago, our incredibly talented Year 12 Music students performed an original musical - The Curse of the Strassburg Diamond. Due to COVID, only students could enjoy their wicked sense of humour, impeccable timing and phenomenal voices. Senior Dance students supported the cast and made it a fantastic show; all original songs, costumes, script even a rap (Duran, you were fantastic!). Sit back, relax and enjoy the show! #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives https://clickv.ie/w/3Z_o

24.01.2022 YEAR 1 2020 CELEBRATION OF LEARNING | In what has been a very different school year, we are so proud of all they have achieved .

23.01.2022 BUILDING COMMUNITY | Year 9 students have been busy helping others as part of their Life Skills community service project. 9A sold icy cups for a week to raise money for Cherbourg community, which Immanuel works with via a number of community-building and educational initiatives. Students in 9B, 9C and 9D served members of our community at the Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. They then put together 50 Christmas bags filled with practical items and goodies for children and adults. C...haplain Mrs Mathews has taken these to be distributed to the patrons of Daily Bread in time for Christmas and Mr Roach has been working with home groups to make meals for those who attend Daily Bread. Parents, please give your kids a pat on the back for finishing so well. #WeAreImmanuel #BuildingCommunity #EnrichingLives

23.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS PIP! | Yesterday, ILC Year 5 student Pipi P-M and her beautiful pony, Poppet (Whitmere Countess), qualified for Grand Nationals. They won the Queensland Show Horse Council Large Pony event at the Summer Classic. This was an an open event against the best in the state so a huge effort for all - mum and dad included! It was her all-time goal to qualify for nationals and she did it - due to be held at the Sydney Equestrian Centre in March 2021. Go Pipi and Poppet you little rocket! #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

22.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN BUSINESS WEEK (ABW) | Today, Year 10s got a sense of what it's like to reach the dizzying heights of fame when three time Olympic pole vaulter, dual Commonwealth Gold Medallist and Immanuel Old Scholar Alana Quade (nee Boyd) (2001), returned to the College to talk to them about the challenges and highlights she's encountered in her sporting and now business career. Alana was the College's keynote speaker opening ABW 2020, a nationally recognised program that helps... students develop confidence and an entrepreneurial attitude. In teams, students run virtual businesses where they make a range of important decisions and manage the results - financial, marketing, logistics. It's hands-on learning. They design real elements including a website and actual trade stand which they're judged on and each team is assigned a business mentor. It’s the perfect way to engage young minds and build confidence. Thank you, Alana, for your time and encouragement. #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

22.01.2022 YEAR 11 CONSTRUCTION | Over the past 6 weeks, our Year 11 Construction students have built a forest walk in the Primary School section of our rainforest which will open to students early next year. Because of their great work, Mr Minke is shouting them a pizza lunch on Friday. #ImmanuelLutheranCollege #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

22.01.2022 FINAL GATHERING FOR 2020 | Today, students and staff gathered in worship. The story of Christmas and the birth of Jesus was told brilliantly by our Year 2s; Prep and Year 1 students shone through song and all students were attentive and a wonderful audience. Thank you, parents and caregivers for an incredible but different year. We have had our challenges but still achieved great things. We look forward to seeing you again on Wednesday 27 January. Merry Christmas from all of us at Immanuel. #WeAreImmanuel #EnrichingLives #InspiringLearning

21.01.2022 TALENT QUEST | Today, brave young boys and girls stood before their peers and sang their hearts out in this year's Talent Quest. It's quite daunting to stand before a few hundred of your friends but these few had the courage and resilience to persist. We even had a comic duo; there might be a future in comedy for these two lads. There was no overall winner as today was about celebrating the talent we have in Immanuel's Primary School. However, we would like to show you one performance by Marley in Year 5. Marley has been at Immanuel since her days at the ELC. Take it away, Marley... #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

21.01.2022 LEADERS OF TOMORROW | ILC's Class of 2020 will be Australia's leaders of tomorrow because they lead by example. Each year, Immanuel's graduating class raise money to buy a gift for the College - as a way of thanking their teachers - by putting on a $10 car wash. This year's graduates decided that due to COVID, their teachers had gone above and beyond to get them through the rigors of Year 12 and to thank them, they would put on a free car wash and raise the money another way. Today, many teachers enjoyed a free cash wash or internal vacuum. Outstanding, Year 12s. #WeAreImmanuel #EnrichingLives #BuildingCommunity

21.01.2022 SHARE THE DIGNITY CHRISTMAS DRIVE | A big THANK YOU to everyone who donated to our Share the Dignity It's in the Bag Christmas Drive. This year, the need for bags has been overwhelming. We are so thankful that 121 bags were donated by members of our generous Immanuel community. All donations are used to support local women who are homeless, at risk, or experiencing domestic violence. It’s about Sunshine Coast locals helping Sunshine Coast women. Thank you for your support. 18.01.2022 2020 PARENT SATISFACTION SURVEY | As we draw 2020 to a close, I take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for your support throughout this year. It has certainly been a 'different' year on many levels, but what has been consistent over the last 12 months has been the strength of our community. I have been so impressed by the capacity of our staff, students and parents to overcome the many challenges that have emerged over recent months, and to do so with collaboration and... persistence. I am acutely aware of how the lack of access to campus and events have impacted on families, and have been so thankful for your cooperation and understanding as we navigated the (often weekly) changing restrictions. We are prayerfully hopeful that 2021 will bring a return to relative normality, and we will provide an update early in the new year as advice comes to hand. As part of our approach to continuous improvement, I have linked here the annual Parent Survey, which gathers feedback on a number of College areas to assist with our reflections and planning for the future. I would be grateful if you could take some time to provide your thoughts on the year that has been. We appreciate your time and support of Immanuel and look forward to strengthening communication between parents and the College. The survey will close at 4.00pm on Wednesday 9 December. Thank you, COLIN MINKE Principal https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Parent_Satisfaction_Survey_2

17.01.2022 NETBALL SKILLS CLINIC | Yesterday's pre-season ILC Netball Skills Clinic for our Years 6-8 girls was fantastic. Coach Roxanne organised USC Thunder players Annie Lawrie 2020 Sunshine Coast Lightning Training Partner and a member of the Australian Under 21s Squad and Ali Wilshier 2021 contracted play for Southern Steel and playing in the New Zealand ANZ Championship to come along and mentor the girls. Our usual netball mentor, Karla Pretorius, is in South Africa with i...nternational netball commitments, so Roxanne ensured our girls received invaluable lessons from the two Thunder players. They then put their new skills to work when they finished the session with game play. Thursday afternoon will see ILC's senior girls with the same opportunity to train with the USC Thunder players from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

13.01.2022 SHARE THE DIGNITY CHARITY DRIVE | We're now up to 62 bags; thank you, Immanuel community. As many will know, this is the fourth year we have been collecting for this local charity - helping local women who are homeless, at risk, or experiencing domestic violence. It’s about Sunshine Coast locals helping Sunshine Coast women. In 2017, we donated 57 bags; in 2018, we donated 115 bags and in 2019, a massive 162 bags were donated by members of the Immanuel community. We're coll...ecting until Friday 28 November and the concept is really simple. All you need do is get an old handbag or small shoulder bag and in it, place the following items: Shampoo and conditioner Toothbrush and toothpaste Body wash/soap Roll-on deodorant A sealed packet of pads or tampons Pop in a thoughtful note or Christmas card to show that someone cares. When you see toothpaste or shampoo on special, pick it up with your groceries. It’s that easy! Donations may be left at the College Shop or Student Services. Thank you again for your support. If you have any questions, please contact Di via E: [email protected] or T: 5477 3457. #WeAreImmanuel #BuildingCommunity #EnrichingLives

10.01.2022 WORK, WORK, WORK | In Year 1, it must be hard to imagine what grown ups do all day. We don't have play dates, there's no painting or drawing, and we don't go to the library for storytelling. However, they do know that if you're Mr Minke and Principal of our wonderful College, you must work very hard. That's why two special visitors from Year 1 came to visit Mr Minke to deliver a message to show how much they appreciate all that he does for Immanuel; especially when the students have gone on holiday. You can read their message here. #WeAreImmanuel #InspiringLearning #EnrichingLives

Furthermore, Stanley J. was announced the District Age Champion in the 12 years age group. The Percentage Trophy is awarded to the school with the highest number of points based on school size.
