25.01.2022 Museum hack is underway! We were super lucky to get a behind the scenes tour from museum director Richard Mulvaney. He came in on his weekend and gave us an excellent in-depth tour. Lots of inspiration for things to build this weekend!

25.01.2022 Today is #moonhack day! Kids all over the world are learning to code as part of a world record attempt from the awesome Code Club team. If you want to get involved, you can sign up and participate at www.moonhack.com. If you want to be counted for the world record though, you better jump on tonight and check it out!

22.01.2022 Hey folks - two weeks to Museum Hack! We would love it if you could share this event around to anyone who you think would like to attend. Thanks!

19.01.2022 Hello Everyone, The Battery Shed will be open this Saturday from 10 - 3, so feel free to pop in and work on a project or come in and check it out. We will be aiming to open the shed every second saturday from here on out, with a few weekdays too as soon as we can figure out a schedule. Thanks and hope to see you there -Troy

17.01.2022 Recharge was the highlight of our year in 2015 and we're super excited to be running it again later this month! Check out more details below!

14.01.2022 It's almost time for GovHack again! This year, the event in Launceston will be happening at Enterprize in Paterson St (not the Battery Shed as it has in previous years). This gives us a bit of room to grow, so if you haven't attended a GovHack event before, 2017 is a great year to start! The actual event is happening in the last weekend of July (28-30 July). You can learn more and register to attend here: www.govhack.org/tas

14.01.2022 Check out this awesome video from Queechy High School's F1 in Schools Team, Golden Diversity. Seriously cool stuff!

13.01.2022 Hi! In case you missed it, we've got the shed open this Sunday. We're catching up to plan out our schedule for the first part of the year, but its also a great time to come and check out the space. If you've been looking for a way to get involved, we'd love to see you and chat about the things you'd like to see happening around the shed. we'd also appreciate you sharing this post with anyone who you think might be interested in getting involved with our community of hackers and makers. Hope to see you there!

12.01.2022 Launtel have been doing some incredible things for technology in Northern Tasmania. Keep an eye on them!

11.01.2022 It's time for more Bitlink after-school programs, starting in a couple of weeks! This time around, the crew are running Creative Mode (a repeat of the very first course we ever ran!) and Robots and Drones (a brand new course). This term, Robots and Drones will be happening on Tuesdays at Launceston College's STEAM NGN facility and Robots and Drones will be happening on Thursdays at the Battery Shed. You can learn more about these programs by visiting www.bitlink.com.au/event...s and if you have questions you can send an email through to [email protected]. As always, if you can help us spread the word about these great after school clubs for kids, we'd appreciate it!

11.01.2022 Here's a work in Progress from Joe Robinson - looking awesome!

08.01.2022 Good Morning! Museum Hack Day 2 is booting up. Projects are starting to come together - We've got new ways to digitize museum artefacts, a virtual gallery and even a railway handcar game controller. Looking forward to seeing how far we can get with some of these in the final day! You can keep up with progress via our instagram page - https://www.instagram.com/batteryshed/

07.01.2022 The Bitlink team are running two brand new after school programs at the Battery Shed this term! This time around, we're going to be hosting Electric Threads (a course focused on wearable electronics) and Zombie Electronics (a course focused on gadgets for making your base safe in a zombie outbreak). You can find more information about both programs below. They start next week, so get in quick if you can!

06.01.2022 Earlier this week the Governor General and his wife, Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove, visited the new Enterprize startup space in Launceston. If you're a Battery Shed regular, you'll probably spot a few familiar faces in the crowd. :)

03.01.2022 We ran GovHack at Enterprize this year, rather than at the Innovation Circle as we have in previous years. It was no less awesome than it always is though! If you're interested in seeing what the Launceston teams got up to, give this video from the City of Launceston Official social media team a look! #govhack #startuptas

01.01.2022 The awesome Bitlink crew have another batch of after-school programs coming up at the Battery Shed! This term, they're running Robots and Drones (a popular course in which kids learn computer programming and robotics), as well as a brand new course, Comics from Scratch (a course in which participants learn how to build their own animated/interactive comic book using their own artwork and the computer programming language Scratch).
