The predicted increase of suicides is 25 per cent each year for the next five years, Professor Ian Hickie, co-director of the Brain and Mind Centre at The University of Sydney, said. Thats 750 extra deaths by suicide a year. Its an enormous number. It will be a massively bigger death toll than COVID. National surveys of anxiety and depression both via the Australian Bureau of Statistics and (academic) studies show increasing rates of psychological distress since the pandemic began, Professor Hickie said. Initially, I think there was a high degree of anxiety about health but I think the deep and ongoing anxiety is about peoples economic future. It connects you with psychologists like us and enables you to receive rebated sessions through Medicare, with the vision to make professional help more accessible to everyone A MHC Plan requires a doctors diagnosis of mental illness or a mental disorder, including anxiety and depression for example. ... If your mental wellbeing has been suffering, but you have not been diagnosed, you will need to see a GP for eligibility. A MHC Plan referral from your GP enables you to claim a Medicare rebate of $84.80 for a general psychologist or $124.50 for a clinical psychologist per session. If you are not eligible for a mental health care plan, you may be eligible for a Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. With an EPC plan, you will receive a rebate of $52.95. Here are the top three tips for preventing bowel cancer through diet from our dietician and clinic par...tner @integrated_wellness: 1Include lots of fibre from a wide variety of fruits (2 servings per day) and vegetables (5 or more servings per day). Fibre helps to keep your bowels regular, which helps to prevent any carcinogenic waste products from being reabsorbed. Fibre is also food for probiotics in our gut, which new studies have linked with lower risk of bowel cancer. 2Moderate your consumption of red and processed meats. Try to include a variety of meats and protein sources and have one to two small portions of meat per week. Chronically high iron levels are linked with increased bowel cancer risk, so this is an important factor for males or people with haemochromatosis. 3Avoid alcohol or drink in moderation. Heavy alcohol consumption is linked with increased risk of bowel cancer. Limit your drinks to no more than 10 std drinks per week, 4 on any one day and have at least 2 alcohol free days per week See more
