17.01.2022 A brief insurance market update it’s insured and our licensee Australia Broker Network have noticed that Insurance pricing changing in recent times. Increases of between 10 and up to 40% are not uncommon with reduced risk appetite from Insurer’s minimising their losses, meaning some risks or occupations are even being declined. This change follows a state of decline for an extended period of years. We understand insurance pricing is always be subject to a combination of lo...sses from claims and investment returns based on the global economy. The market has been driven by significant competition due to new capital and a relatively benign claims environment. However, the claims environment changed dramatically in 2017 as natural catastrophes in the second half of the year, including hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, earthquakes in Mexico, fires in California and string of storm and flood events in Australia and Europe, have resulted in significant losses and a drain on capital in the insurance market. 05.01.2022 The leaves are falling, daylight savings has ended and it’s time to get your winter coat, electric blanket and heater from out of the cupboard. But just like summer, winter brings its own unique set of fire dangers. Here are some tips from Know Risk to keep you and your family save during winter. Electric blankets - Replace worn and old electric blankets- as they can cause an electric shock.... - Place your electric blanket every five years with new heat protected models as they are more energy efficient and are much safer. - Remember twisted cords are a common cause of electric blanket fires. The kitchen According to the NSW Fire and Rescue service, kitchen fires are the number one cause of household fires during winter. So, when you’re trying to be the next MasterChef, keep these fire safety rules in mind. - Never ever leave cooking unattended - Heat cooking oil carefully and slowly in the right size saucepan to avoid fat splatters. - Install a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen and know how to use them. - If cooking oil catches fire, turn off the hotplate and slide the lid over the pan or use the fire blanket to smother the fire. - Ensure that all cooking appliances are turned off after use. Heaters - Remember to always keep furniture, curtains, clothes and children at least one metre away from heaters and fireplaces. - Don’t store objects on top of your heating appliance. - Never cover heating appliances. - Don’t overload clothes dryers and clean the lint filter after each load cycle. Also, check with your insurance broker to ensure your home is protected for fire and accidental damage. #Staysafe #winter #safety #loweryourrisks #gettherightcover

05.01.2022 Buying home and content insurance? With Sydney’s rising house prices and most areas around Eastern Suburb having median property price of over $2 million, it is important to make sure your house is insured for its full value. Insuring a high value house is a little different to insuring a standard house. This is due to the fact that if you choose a standard home and contents policy, it may not be sufficient to cover your asset and its contents. It is therefore recommended if ...you have home and or contents that is worth over $2 million to have an insurance policy that protects your most significant financial investment the best that it can. Prestige Home and Contents Insurance is often recommended for high net value home. Prestige home and Contents Insurance offers coverage for individuals with significant assets to protect and appreciate high level of cover and service for their homes, contents, fine art, jewellery and antiques. And has higher sum insured limits and usually broader terms of cover. If you any enquires on your home and contents insurance, contact the team at it’s insured 1800 040 040 or visit our website http://www.itsinsured.com.au

05.01.2022 Easter road trips- avoiding risks while on holidays Easter long weekend is an ideal time for many to travel and enjoy quality family time. It also means a lot of people are on the road, whether it is travelling locally or interstate. According to Suncorp’s report unrestrained pets, misbehaving children and taking eyes off the road are the biggest distractions on the road. The national survey also revealed almost half of Australians have had a near miss due to them being dis...tracted while driving. Drivers are warned to be mindful of those around them and the added risks that comes from driving in unfamiliar area, or distractions from family members. Drivers are also encouraged to take breaks, get a good night sleep ahead of a long journey and if possible share driving duties. Here are some tips for staying safe on the road or while away this long weekend: - When leaving your house for a road trip, check all doors are lock and enable security alarms. - If you're taking a road trip this Easter break, make use of the driver reviver sites and change drivers at each rest stop. - Don't drive at times when you would normally be asleep or tired. - Take a break from driving at least every two hours to help fight driver fatigue. - Keep your eyes on the road and avoid distraction. The team at it’s insured would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter. #HAPPYEASTER

04.01.2022 How Brokers add Value 1. We understand the risk: Businesses need to be cognisant of the wide range of potential risks they are exposed to. From day-to-day activities to overseas travel, there are many considerations. By developing an in-depth understanding of how a business operates, brokers help their clients identify the exposures requiring coverage. 2. Craft a tailored solution: An off-the-shelf, cookies cutter policy will seldom cover all eventualities. Brokers are best ...positioned to fully research the activities of their clients, establish risks and then work with an insurer that has direct capabilities in the relevant areas. 3. Consider Cost: Businesses are always looking for ways to reduce costs and insurance is often one of the first things to go. But if they select policies based on price, they’re potentially compromising their ability to meet their duty of care to their employees, customers or themselves. Large claims and/ or underinsurance stops businesses recovering and brokers can craft a solution that meets a client’s budget and risk profile. 4. Become the trusted advisor: Brokers have the opportunity to position themselves as the trusted advisor with their clients. They are ideally placed to educate businesses about the ever-changing nature of the risk they face and offer clients expert advice and guidance.
