25.01.2022 Today it's World Teachers Day and I want to say a massive thank you to each and every educator locally and across Victoria! I said in Parliament this week that I wouldn’t have wanted their job this year, they’ve done an amazing job and have risen to the many challenges. Our teachers have done us so proud this year (and every year) and they have done a remarkable job in getting through 2020 and continuing to support our community and importantly educate our kids. ... Thank you!

25.01.2022 Tonight, Metro Melbourne moves into the First Step which bring some small changes and is thanks to the hard work and sacrifices made by locals to get to this point. Heres what changes: Curfew continues with an hour reduction due to longer days Each night from 9pm-5am (exempt for work, caregiving and medical reasons)... Playgrounds and outdoor gyms reopen! 2 people or those in your household can meet outdoors for up to two hours for exercise or social interaction like having a coffee in the park or to sit and read a book. (dependents can be taken if unable to be left at home) 5km rule still in place. People living alone or a single parent will be able to create a social bubble with one other person (nominated). Libraries will open for a click and collect service For more detail go here - https://www.vic.gov.au/first-step-restrictions-roadmap-FAQs Again, a massive thanks to all of you for doing the hard yards. We have this final push to go before we can all do the things we love and see our loved ones again. Keep well.

25.01.2022 A message from Dan on resumption of elective surgery. I know the pause on non-urgent elective surgeries has meant an anxious wait for people. The term elective never really does justice to the changes a hip replacement or cataract removal can make to someones life.... No-one wants a delay on these important operations but it was necessary while our hospitals dealt with the worst of the pandemic. Pleased to announce today that were able to lock in a staged timeline for getting surgeries back up and running. This means hospitals state-wide will return to 100 per cent of usual activity when Victoria reaches the Last Step of the roadmap planned for 23 November. In real terms, that accounts for around 18,750 additional elective surgeries across our private and public hospitals in October, and an extra 10,500 surgeries in November. Well also reinstate the elective surgery blitz to clear the backlog as soon as its safe to do so. And for people waiting on dental or allied health treatment restrictions for those services in metro Melbourne will ease during the Second Step, from the 28 September. That means non-urgent procedures including routine dental examinations, temporary fillings, simple extractions, preventive procedures, and dentures and orthodontic treatments can go ahead. Allied health professionals will be able to see patients face-to-face for a broader range of treatments such as pain management or supporting mobility. These steps are only possible because of Victorians efforts and sacrifices and success in driving the numbers down. So thank you.

25.01.2022 During Foster Care Week I wanted to thank all of the amazing carers out there. When I was young I spent a little while in foster care and as much as I remember missing my parents, I knew it wasnt the right place for me to be at the time. I am forever grateful for the care and dedication shown to me by mine and my brothers carers. So I want to again say a massive thank you to all the foster carers out there for being unique and amazing people, who step forward to help kids... when they need it most. And to also thank organisations like Create Foundation who help children and young people feel less alone in their care experience. Attached is a link to a bit of my story in care and how some of those experiences shaped me. This week and every day lets continue to celebrate carers and thank them. More information about Foster Care Week: https://fosteringconnections.com.au/foster-care-week-2020

25.01.2022 Message from one of our amazing local schools Enrol now // We know things are uncertain at the moment, but now is the time to secure your place in our 3 and 4 year old kinder programs for 2021. Places are filling fast! So we encourage you to click on the link below and fill in the enquiry form or give us a call. ... https://www.boroniak-12.vic.edu.au/early/enrolment-enquiry/

24.01.2022 It's now been 2 years since I was given the greatest privilege and honour of representing our amazing community in State Parliament in the Andrews Government. For me, the opportunity to serve, to listen and deliver for our local patch is something I take seriously - because you deserve nothing less. We've done a bit together these last couple years, but I don't kid myself in thinking the job is done, nor is it ever. ... My job as your local MP is to continue to work hard on your behalf and as long as I am about you have my commitment to continue to do exactly that each and every single day to create local jobs and get things done. And though some of us may disagree on certain things from time to time, that's okay, its part of our democracy - but I'll always listen. So to everyone from Bayswater, to Heathmont, Wantirna to The Basin, Boronia to Kilsyth South and Bayswater North, I say - thank you. Here's to a an even bigger 2021 in working together.

24.01.2022 This is amazing news for young people and their carers. As someone who spent a little while in foster care and worked closely with young people in my previous life, I know how much this will mean to so many. Most teenagers aren’t forced to move out of home on their 18th birthday and fend for themselves. So why should kids in care be any different?... A little while back we trialled Home Stretch a new program to extend state support up to 21. And as part of this year's Budget we’re rolling it out universally meaning it’ll be available to any young person in out-of-home care who wants it. Because every young Victorian deserves a safe, supportive environment at such an important time in their lives not worrying about where they're going to sleep tonight. They deserve to thrive, not just survive. And this way they will And can I take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all the foster carers out there for being unique and amazing people, who step forward to help kids when they need it most. I am forever grateful for the care and dedication shown to me by mine and my brothers carers.

Things are looking positive and ahead of 28 September, and if were on track with our case numbers, our public health team will review our progress and ensure we can confidently move metropolitan Melbourne to the Second Step.

24.01.2022 BREAKING BUDGET NEWS: More support for healthcare from home across Victoria. From Dan ‘Today we announced extra funding to bring hospital care and treatment to homes right across Victoria... It's called Better at Home, and we're providing over $120 million to make it happen. The program will mean that more Victorians undergoing chemo, recovering from an injury or those at the end of their lives can be treated in their own homes close by to their families, friends and pets. It won't cost patients anything more, and we'll provide all the nurses, doctors, equipment and resources needed to continue the same safe, high-quality care they'd get at hospital. Obviously it won't be right for every patient, and it'll always be their choice on how and where they get their treatment. But research shows that being at home improves patient outcomes and reduces stress too. It's about making things that little bit easier for patients and their families. But best of all, it'll mean getting better in your own bed’.

24.01.2022 BREAKING: I know the effects this pandemic has had on students mental health. Thats why weve brought forward this program and starting Term 1 in 2021 every local gov secondary school will have access to the school-based mental health support they need into the future. This will see more support at our local secondary schools: Boronia K-12 College Heathmont College... Bayswater Secondary College Wantirna College Fairhills High School Knoxfield This program and commitment we made will see qualified mental health professionals in every government secondary school campus across the state and now locally much sooner and will include psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and mental health nurses. All Victorian government school students, whether they are learning remotely or attending school on-site, have been able to access mental health and wellbeing support during the pandemic. I want to thank each and every member of our school communities for putting in the hard yards, the long hours and the dedication to make sure each and every young person gets the support and care they deserve. Its only right we back this up with such a valuable investment into the long term.

23.01.2022 A big thanks to Boronia Scout Group for letting me join them via Zoom to hear from them about their work and activities throughout the last year. A massive congrats to all the leaders on another great year, albeit in trying times, I really enjoyed hearing all of your reports. Was really pleased also to share the news that they were recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Andrews Government to give them a small bit of help during COVID. ... As a former rover, I know just how amazing the scouting movement is and the difference it makes in the lives of so many. Keep up the great work guys! And look forward to coming out and seeing you in person.

23.01.2022 Popped in and said g'day to Dan today and he's so thankful to all of you, for everything you're doing, what you continue to do, your hard work and sacrifices made to get us on the path to COVID normal. It's been a massive effort! And I too want to say thanks, I am so proud to represent our community each and every day and proud of what our community has achieved together and how we have worked as one. Dan and I spoke at length about the many sacrifices made and the hard wor...k each local has put in, each business and everyone else in between, we are both so very grateful and proud of all of you. I know it's been tough lately, but I hope this week has brought some relief, that you are doing okay and that you get a chance to enjoy the beautiful sunshine. Keep well all and be safe. And remember if you have any symptoms at all, please go and get tested.

22.01.2022 Dan’s take on Victoria’s budget which includes a plan to create 400,000 jobs and gets us moving again ‘When we were elected to lead this state, we promised to put people first. And no matter how hard this year has been that's a promise we'll never break.... Today's Budget is one like no other, in a year like none we've seen before. And at the heart of all its facts, stats and figures is a fundamental commitment to helping people, improving lives and making Victoria a fairer place. It doesn't matter what word you use cracks, pitfalls, inequality or disparity. This year has exposed them all. And if we want a future where every Victorian can achieve their potential and feel positive about what's to come: We have to face the challenges that've been shirked for far too long. Because 'too hard' has become too easy to say, and change simply can't wait till another day. We have to do more, we must do better. We need a state that's strong, and a future that's certain. A place where Victorians are supported, their work is valued, their livelihoods secure. And where people will always be put before the bottom line. This Budget is for families, it's for regional communities, for workers, schools, TAFEs, hospitals, businesses and so much more. It's an investment in fairness and in our state's future. But more than anything else: It puts people first’.

22.01.2022 UPDATE: Following further consideration and public health advice, beauty and personal services where a mask can be worn, may be provided in the Third Step, alongside hairdressing. This means that services such as facials, face tattoos, face piercings, could not occur at the moment as a mask would not be able to be worn properly. Hope this is some welcome news for those services. ... And again a big thank you to everyone for their understanding and hard work. Further information and detail will be available very soon on the Business Victoria Site and the under the Vic Gov Roadmap site - https://www.vic.gov.au/industry-restrictions-roadmap-metro-

21.01.2022 This one is HUGE - I recently announced $5,000,000 to deliver a new-state-of-the-art Knox Regional Netball Centre which helps to lock this project in, get it done and create local jobs! + 2 new indoor courts! The $15 million project is going to be massive, there's no doubt about that. Our local sporting community have been doing it really tough lately and I know this will be something they can look forward to, when we get to the other side and can do things like play netbal...l again, which is an extremely popular sport across the country. The new state of the art Netball Centre will include: Two new fully enclosed indoor courts New change rooms A stunning observation deck Nearly an extra 200 car parks Exciting new outdoor and open space improvements Deliver local jobs to get it done And if these designs are anything to go by, it is going to be a beauty! And, to add it's also great to see all 3 levels of government working on this one. If any of you know me, I've never shied away from giving credit where it's due, so props to the Federal Government for their $4mil contribution and for Knox City Council for chipping in what will be the remainder and delivering this exciting project. I'll be working with Knox Council and stakeholders to get this done as soon as possible. Stoked to have been able to help secure this commitment from the Andrews Government and lock in an exciting project for the community. 20.01.2022 As a fervent Richmond supporter, Im no fan of the maggies its fair to say. But now even less so as swooping season has begun in earnest. If you move through magpie territory and they perceive you to be a threat, you can expect to be swooped! Heres what you need to know to keep your distance from Eddie the Maggie and his mates:... The best way to avoid being swooped is to avoid the area all together, though this isnt always possible. Know your local swooping hotspots Avoid the area Protect your head and eyes and move quickly through the area without running. Cover your head with a hat, helmet or umbrella and consider drawing a pair of eyes on the back of your hat or helmet Do not harass or feed wildlife You can also report swooping birds online at Victorias Magpie Map - https://www.wildlife.vic.gov.au/managing-wil/swooping-birds Keep safe out there and avoid the maggies where you can. And apologies to any Colli-wobble fans.

19.01.2022 BREAKING: $100,000 locked in from the Andrews Government to upgrade the 1st Bayswater Scouts Hall and I'm so excited this is getting done! This has been a long time coming and as a former Rover myself - I'm glad we're getting on with delivering it! The 1st Bayswater Scout Group are a ripper local community group that do fantastic work in our area - and they deserve a hall to match! So, I'm stoked we're backing them in with $100,000 to help kickstart this upgrade.... Scouts have a long and rich history across Victoria and locally - giving young people the opportunity to be part of a worldwide network to learn important life and leadership skills, with Scout Halls being the beating heart of the organisation and local communities. So on this - a big thumbs up from the Scouts - and from me too! Stay tuned as we work together to see this project get underway.

19.01.2022 As the weather warms up and we begin to look towards spending more time outdoors, the State Government has backed in local fishers with more trout being added to the Ferntree Gully Quarry! As a part of the State Government’s $35 million Target One Million plan for recreational fishing an extra 60 stonker rainbow trout were stocked in October. This is a great oppor-tuna-ty for local families to get hooked on fishing, something I'm gill-ty of myself.... But I'll stop carping on - get out and give it a go, it's a really so-fish-ticated way to spend an afternoon. I'll show myself out.

19.01.2022 Businsses are doing it tough and this package needed to be our biggest. The $3 billion will provide cash grants, tax relief and cashflow support to businesses as we work together to drive coronavirus cases down and progress along our roadmap to COVID Normal. 18.01.2022 Yesterday we introduced a bill to ban change or suppression practices, also known as 'conversion practices', for good here in Victoria. We’re doing this because LGBTQ people aren't 'broken' and they don't need to be 'fixed'. There is no evidence that attempts to try and make someone change or suppress such a core part of themselves even work. What these practices do is cause harm to people sometimes lifelong harm and they have no place here in Victoria.... More information here: https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/banning-cruel-conversion-pra

18.01.2022 BREAKING: We're delivering a major upgrade for the intersection around Alchester Village Shops in Boronia to improve safety and access for locals! This is a massive win for locals - it not creates local jobs but gets on with the task of making our local roads safer and as something I've been working on since day one, I'm stoked to be able to share it with you first! Not long after being elected, I organised an onsite meeting with a number of locals to discuss their concerns a...t this problem intersection (Albert Ave/Mountain Hwy, Boronia) which gets plenty of traffic around and through it. I listened to their concerns and understood the issues for the surrounding neighbourhood and particularly for hundreds of local students who use it around pedestrian safety as well as excessive speed from vehicles. Following that, I began working with the Minister, as well as community groups and schools - and I'm over the moon that this Budget gets this done. The upgrade will look at improving connectivity at this location and will improve safety and access for school kids and locals. There's a bit of work to do, to make sure we get this one right and of course work with the community on the final scope. I'll keep you updated along the way on this important community project and look forward to sharing more detail with you. My thanks to Minister Ben Carroll MP for listening to these concerns and helping me deliver something that will have an important, long lasting impact for locals in our patch.

18.01.2022 Remember this? Well works on the exciting new outdoor learning space at Marlborough Primary School Heathmont is soon to kick off and the new toilets arent far off either! Not all kids are able to properly engage with typical play spaces and thats why were delivering the new and exciting sensory play space at Marlborough Primary School. Well be turning an unused space into an engaging and accessible outdoor play garden for kids of all abilities.... It will include tactile surfaces and energy zones, as well as elements to help kids to reengage with their learning after a hard day in the classroom. This is big news for Marlborough and will mean every kid will get the same opportunities in the playground to have a bit of fun and learn in new ways. And well, kids deserve decent toilets, so we are upgrading those too! Great school, great community and these upgrades will make sure the kids there have the very best facilities!

17.01.2022 BREAKING: $2.5 million secured to upgrade and modernise Heathmont College! The Andrews Governments Budget delivers more than ever for local education - and I'm stoked that I've been able to secure funds to help modernise one of our ripper local schools in Heathmont College! This is on top of the $5.5 million already invested at Heathmont for a new competition grade gym, a library refurbishment and positive education centre and continues to deliver on their Masterplan.... And, it'll create good local jobs, too - helping to drive our economic recovery. It's all about giving our young people 21st century learning facilities to give them the very best chance at a first-rate education. And there's always more to do - I'll continue to back in our local schools every step of the way!

17.01.2022 Was great to hit the doors in Boronia with these legends today! Hot on the agenda was the $2.5 million I’ve secured to back in Boronia and get things done! Cheers for the good vibes Boronia!

17.01.2022 SUPPORT FOR SOLE TRADERS Local sole traders have done it tough these last few months. Ive heard from many of them and I have been advocating on their behalf and I will continue to. Here are some details below on how the Victorian Government will support over 30,000 sole traders:... $100 million Sole Trader Support Fund established, in addition to the $3 Billion package of grants, tax relief, and cash flow support announced yesterday. $3000 grants to eligible sole traders who will continue to be impacted by restrictions Eligibility for Sole Traders who are tenants / licensees in a commercial premises or location (The sole operator tenant may also be the landlord of that commercial premises) and operate in a sector which is restricted under the Second Step of our Roadmap to Reopening. Examples of businesses these grants will support include dance studios, gyms, and many others. There are a number of other support measures, waivers and deferrals as well. Additional details about support for businesses will be made available at www.business.vic.gov.au very soon For more detail go to the Business Victoria website to register and will be notified as soon as applications are open, please check back as well for updates on their site https://www.business.vic.gov.au/subscribe-to-newsletters Expressions of interest will open this week, with applications to open soon after. Todays announcement is expected to support up to 33,000 sole traders with their business costs. Todays fund is a recognition that many sole traders out there have faced continued pressure in covering their overheads. While sole traders receive income support via the Commonwealths JobKeeper program, many have fixed costs associated with their business, such as a commercial lease. I know todays announcement wont cover all sole traders and I understand that many will be left disappointed. I understand and I will continue to strongly advocate for our local sole traders and local business. To see what other supports exist you can check here - https://www.business.vic.gov.au//Coronavirus-COVID-19-busi I will keep you updated on any further measures available for local small businesses as we continue to progress through the next steps. Please dont hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to make sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities and increase local participation as coronavirus restrictions are lifted. Since coming to office, the Victorian Government has provided 4952 Sporting Club Grants to clubs across the state, totaling more than $6.8 million.

16.01.2022 Stoked to let you know that 24 of our local kinders will share in $52,000 in funds as a part of the Andrews Government's Term 4 Kinder Payments! These grants recognise the important role kindergarten services are playing in supporting children and families during this disrupted year. Grants of up to $5,000 will be provided to eligible early childhood services. There is no requirement for early childhood services to apply for these grants.... These grants will provide services with access to additional funding to invest in resources to support children’s learning and development and transition to school. This funding boost is available to early childhood services that are not yet receiving funding through the Andrews Government’s ground-breaking $160 million School Readiness Funding initiative who are already able to access these supports. School Readiness Funding will be rolled out to all services delivering a funded kindergarten program (over 2,500 services) in Victoria from the start of 2021.

16.01.2022 TAKING IT TO THE STREETS: As we start to reopen pubs, restaurants and cafes will be backed to reinvent the way they do business as part of an $87.5 million package to support councils and businesses to bring about changes to make widespread outdoor dining safe and practical. Here's how it will work: $58 million will be paid in grants of up to $5,000 to employing hospitality businesses (with an annual payroll of less than $3 million may be eligible for $5,000 grants) to help... pay for umbrellas, furniture, screens and other equipment and to invest in training, advertising and other measures to comply with licence conditions as they adapt to outdoor dining. The grants will be available to licensed and unlicensed cafes, restaurants, takeaway food businesses, pubs, taverns, bars and clubs with a payroll of less than $3 million more than 11,000 businesses could potentially benefit. $29.5 million will be provided to local councils to help them to swiftly implement streamlined permit, enforcement and monitoring processes to support expanded outdoor dining. Moving forward, I expect all councils to support their local businesses to create outdoor events and spaces for people to eat and drink, like in parks, sidewalks to name a couple. Grants open now! Link in comments section... I can't wait to get back out and support our amazing local pubs and clubs.

16.01.2022 New platform canopies, seating, safety lighting, fences, CCTV as well as accessibility upgrades so everybody visiting and using the station can have the same access. Here I am asking for an update from the Minister on this critical community project at Heathmont Station. Can't wait to get this kicked off, create local jobs and deliver a better station for locals!

16.01.2022 The impact of eating disorders is profound, for the person experiencing the disorder, their families and carers.. We also know that there has been an increase in eating disorder presentations during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why we’re providing an extra $2 million in funding to ensure Victorians get earlier care, support and treatment.... Eating disorders are a serious mental illness that have the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness. Many people experiencing an eating disorder suffer from depression and anxiety with rates for anorexia 32 times higher than the general population. 15.01.2022 We're fixing up Canterbury Road with resurfacing works early in the new year to make it safer - and smoother! - for local drivers. Ruts, potholes and uneven road surfaces aren't fun to drive on and, in fact, can be quite unsafe. So, when a local emailed me about this section of Canterbury Road - around the intersection of Dorset Road in Bayswater North - I had a chat with Minister for Roads, Ben Carroll MP, to see about getting a solution.... And I'm pleased to have been able to get an outcome! So, in both directions on Canterbury Rd between Dorset and Bayfield East Road's you'll see plenty of activity early next year! If you have any local suggestions, concerns or queries - let me know! Email me at [email protected], or give me a call on 9738 0577.

15.01.2022 UPDATE FOR OUR FURRY FRIENDS: Thanks to so many of you for reaching out to me. Pet Groomers at fixed sites will now be able to operate contactless from Step 2 - September 28. My little Penny is probably due for a trim too, so she was pretty chuffed to hear this as well. And we know some of the serious health affects that can result from not keeping our furry friends groomed, so this is an important thing to keep them well. ... Groomers must offer a contactless service (with a COVID Safe Plan) where customers drop off their furry friends and then pick them up when done, this is similar to how vet clinics are already operating. Unfortunately in line with health advice, mobile grooming wont yet be allowed at this Step 2. Looking after our furry friends is so important, so again thanks to everyone who contacted me on this and hope this is welcome news. Further information and detail will be available very soon on the Business Victoria Site and the under the Vic Gov Roadmap site - https://www.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-restrictions-ro Keep well all.

14.01.2022 From start to finish, Cole Clark Guitars make some of the best guitars in the world. And I got the chance to take a tour of their factory recently, with their CEO Miles, to check out their production. I was amazed to learn just how sustainable their products are - with many being produced entirely from reclaimed timber. And now they're kicking back up into production, their orders stretch well into next year - and beyond!... I'm proud that Cole Clark calls Bayswater home - just one of the thousands of amazing businesses that call the Bayswater Business Precinct home.

13.01.2022 You might've missed this one: The Andrews Labor Government is delivering clean, sustainable public transport to keep Victorians moving, with a trial of zero-emission buses to start in the coming months. The Victorian Budget invested $20 million in a statewide trial to investigate solutions to achieve a zero-emission bus fleet and create a pipeline of local job opportunities.... The Zero Emissions Bus Trial will run over three years, trialling different technologies on buses right across the state with an expression of interest for companies to begin soon. The trial will support the Victorian economy with a boost to the transport equipment manufacturing and electricity supply sectors, driving the local development of skills and innovation and contributing to regional economies where some existing manufacturers are already established.

12.01.2022 ICYMI SUPPORT FOR SOLE TRADERS Local sole traders have done it tough these last few months.

10.01.2022 BREAKING BUDGET NEWS: This is MASSIVE. We're investing $4.33 million for a MAJOR UPGRADE of Boronia West Primary School! It'll mean a complete refurbishment of Block C and Block D along with other needed changes - giving local students the 21st century learning facilities that they deserve. It's been a long journey, with many phone conversations and meetings with Mrs. Brown, the Principal, and meetings with their school community. They told me loud and clear their vision for ...BWPS. And I agreed with them. It's a small school, with an enormous heart and a real sense of community - and an incredibly bright future. I am stoked that I've been able to deliver an amount of money that'll make a huge difference for a school that truly deserves it. Stay tuned as this investment takes shape!

08.01.2022 This was as of yesterday and today its now 61.6. This result belongs to you. For your hard work, the sacrifices made - its because of you that we are seeing this and beating this virus. Not so long ago we were seeing numbers over 700 and now under 40 only some weeks later. I know despite all of this there are so many of you doing it bloody tough. ... And that we are all frustrated. Myself included. I get it and I hear you. I understand it. We are in many ways on the home stretch, with only that little bit to go until we can do the things we love again and that we can again see our loved ones. 07.01.2022 BREAKING: The Bayswater Education Plan advisory group has now kicked off! The Ed plan is only the 8th of its kind in the states history and will work with local schools to develop a localised plan which will see further investment and provide a framework for future infrastructure upgrades to ensure students have access to 21st century facilities. This is a game changer for our local schools and will transform local educational outcomes working closely with Bayswater Primary ...School, Bayswater West Primary School, Bayswater North Primary School, Bayswater South Primary School and Bayswater Secondary College. The reality is, is that we know part of the plan will need to help to build on pride and confidence and on the successes of our schools. This plan will also help us further identify unique localised challenges of our school and broader communities. The Bayswater Education Plan is the Andrews Government's long-term plan to make sure local students have access to the best facilities and can reach their full potential and this is something I have fighting for from Day 1 in Parliament. And importantly, at the very heart of this plan is consultation. To get this right we are going to be working with the broader Baysie community, with our schools and with other key stakeholders through this advisory group to change community perceptions, to transform education and to focus on best how to build on the successes of education being delivered in the Bayswater community. Make no mistake - this is a huge and important first step of a journey that will see further investment into Bayswater schools, and importantly will change the course of education in Bayswater. A very proud day for me as a local MP and so proud to be working with our school communities and key partners on such an exciting project.

07.01.2022 As we start to reopen pubs, restaurants and cafes will be backed to reinvent the way they do business as part of an $87.5 million package to support councils and businesses to bring about changes to make widespread outdoor dining safe and practical. Heres how it will work: $58 million will be paid in grants of up to $5,000 to employing hospitality businesses (with an annual payroll of less than $3 million may be eligible for $5,000 grants) to help pay for umbrellas, furni...ture, screens and other equipment and to invest in training, advertising and other measures to comply with licence conditions as they adapt to outdoor dining. Grants to be available in the coming weeks, so stay tuned. The public health team are working through the details on what outdoor dining means in different settings. Once those details are finalised, well release them publicly so businesses can get on and finalise their re-opening plans. This is another step in returning to some sense of a COVID Normal and like you I cant wait to get back out and support our amazing local pubs and clubs.

07.01.2022 Under 30! Yesterday there were 28 new cases reported and 8 lives lost. Thoughts are with all affected. The 14 day rolling average is down from yesterday as we move toward COVID Normal.

06.01.2022 This Sunday, I was supposed to be out hearing from you in Bayswater North, at the Eastfield Road Mall, as well as at Canterbury Gardens Shopping Centre, at a couple of my regular mobile offices. Our neighbourhood is strong and resilient. I am so proud of each and every member of our community for putting in the hard yards and making sacrifices to ensure we get to the other side of this global pandemic together. Were all staying home to stay safe, I am so thankful for these... efforts and proud of our community. Ive held dozens of mobile offices right across our community for the last few years. Every two weeks, at supermarkets, shopping strips and malls. Its been like clockwork, and Ive loved every second. This cant happen right now. But, I still want to hear from you. But that doesnt change the fact that Im still here, and Im still listening. Theres much more to do in our community with schools, local healthcare, roads and the environment. And I want to hear from you about that, and any other issue you might like to raise. As your representative in State Parliament and in the Andrews Government, Im keen to hear what matters to you. So, while my office is closed to physical visits, please email me on [email protected], or call 9738 0577. Id love to hear from you. *Photo taken pre COVID-19

06.01.2022 Say g'day to Rick Baldwin - he's a local lad, and he runs the Koorie Basketball Academy. I got the chance to sit down and have a cuppa with him recently to have a chat about the kinds of work the Academy does. While 2020 hasn't been the basketball year that they'd been hoping for, 2021 holds big plans and a bright future.... Rick also works closely with the Indigenous community and I've told him I'm there to work with him in any way that I can. Keep up the great work Rick - and thanks for the ripper t-shirt, too!

05.01.2022 BREAKING: Last year I said we'd build a brand new station for our amazing vols at The Basin Fire Brigade (CFA), now - $3.2 million is locked into the budget to get it done! I've said it before, The Basin CFA is an integral part of The Basin community, the two are intrinsically linked and they've proudly served us since 1927, have kept us safe and now they've outgrown their current station. The new state of the art building will include improved amenities for volunteers of al...l genders and provide greater access and facilities for members with disabilities, and include areas for meetings, training and other relevant needs. We are close to selecting a final site for the new station. And of course we are taking the time needed to get this right. I'll keep you updated along the way on this important community project. Big thanks to brigade members, their Captain and Knox Mayor Lisa Cooper braving the brisk morning to celebrate this exciting milestone. From day one I said I'd get it done and today is another step in seeing a brand new station to help our vols keep us safe for many more years to come.

05.01.2022 CASH FOR CANS: We've just announced the final design of the Andrews Labor Government’s new container deposit scheme which is set to start in 2023. People will be able to return cans, bottles and cartons at various locations including shopping centres, drive through collection depots, mobile drop off points for events and community festivals. The design will split responsibilities for running the scheme between a scheme coordinator and network operators. This model was chosen... following detailed analysis of schemes operating internationally and interstate and is the model supported by 85 percent of participants during public consultations. This scheme will create new economic opportunities and jobs, while also benefiting charity, community and sports groups in addition to reducing Victoria’s litter by up to half.

04.01.2022 Meet Tara in the middle there. She’s Bayswater Football Club’s first female President in their 125 year history and she’s an amazing woman! I’m a proud supporter of the Baysie Footy Club and here’s to another big year with Tara at the helm supported by the new committee. It’s easy to forget - but our local clubs run thanks to the countless hours put in by people like Tara each and every week. Don’t forget to say thanks for their tireless work to keep our community running. ... Was also great to have another supporter of the club in local Councillor and a friend of mine Sorina Grasso - Councillor for Dinsdale Ward, Knox City Council. Go Baysie!

04.01.2022 Zacs joined my team of junior advisors and we tackled all the big issues from his cat Lucy Fluffy, to spelling and what he wants to be when he grows up. Its also Zacs birthday next week, so wish him a happy birthday! Cheers to Zac from St Bs for fitting me into his busy schedule and to mum Kylie. And equally to his Aunty who made some very interesting mugs, youll have to watch to find out what I mean... Gave me the laugh I needed.

04.01.2022 MASSIVE NEWS INCOMING FOR BORONIA AT 3PM!

04.01.2022 There’s been some reports of people speeding through this intersection and around The Basin CBD area. A friendly reminder to slow down, remember kids are back at school and that’s it’s better to arrive late than not at all. I know this area has been a spot for hoons from time to time as well as issues with cyclists. I’ve always passed this feedback on to Council, the Department of Transport as well as local Police. If you do see people speeding please call the police assist...ance line on 131 444 or in an emergency contact 000. Let’s all do the right thing and take it slow around our local roads.

04.01.2022 BREAKING BUDGET NEWS: $4.5 million EXTRA funding for the Angliss Hospital - to plan for more beds, better support and to back in our healthcare heroes. In a year like no other, when our doctors, nurses, ward staff and medical professionals have stepped forward when we needed them most, the State Budget backs them in locally, with more funding secured for the next stage of the Angliss expansion. It will deliver more hospital beds for you locally as well as upgrade infrastructu...re and support clinical functions - because our healthcare heroes deserve nothing less. This investment is on top of the $20 million Angliss Hospital new intensive care unit and short stay unit that, completed in October 2018. Put simply, this place is pretty special and has served our community proudly for 80 years now and I'm proud to be delivering on a promise to get on with the rebuild. It'll mean more people can get the care they need, when they need it without having to travel into the city. And I'm stoked to see this take shape, alongside the brand new, 120 bed - public - aged care facility in Wantirna.

04.01.2022 An update from Dan in his recovery ‘Just wanted to give everyone an update. Thanks to the best of care, I’m making slow and steady progress. A couple of weeks ago when I started daily walks, I could only manage about 15 minutes now I’m out for almost an hour.... My physio is also going well, but it’s clear I won’t be able to return to work before the State Budget in May. The good news is my team of specialists are confident that I will be back in June. You only get one chance to properly recover from serious injuries and while it’s frustrating to be away from work, there is no alternative. We just have to wait until the ribs and spinal fracture have properly healed. I want to thank James Merlino and all the team who are working so hard and doing so well. And, of course another big thank you to the health professionals who are looking after me. Above all, thanks to all those Victorians who have sent messages of love and support it means a lot. I’m being regularly reviewed by my medical team and I’ll provide more updates in the weeks ahead’.

03.01.2022 It was great to be able to take a short tour of the brand new Temple complex up in The Basin recently - and it's looking absolutely fantastic. The team up at Sri Vakrathunda Vinayagar Temple are doing a tremendous job in tough times, and once it's finished it'll be the biggest granite temple in Victoria and not just a great destination for devotees, but for the whole community too. I'm so proud of the work that they're doing to support those doing it tough during these trying... times as well - providing tens of thousands of meals. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see the finished result!

Thanks to all of you for staying home and keeping us all safe. And remember, any symptoms, no mater how mild - get tested. We have different roadmaps for metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria because they are experiencing the virus differently. It is critical that we continue to slow movement across our metropolitan suburbs and regional towns to slow the spread of the virus so we can continue with cautious steps towards reopening guided by dates and data. Within regional or metro Melbourne, opening up one area before another creates challenges for enforcement and the risk that people will move from one area to another - spreading the virus with them. The measures are in force to ensure the number of cases continues to decline and that we continue to reduce the risk of outbreaks in regional Victoria. Our next steps will be guided by dates and data with clear and articulated case targets, were creating trigger points for review for our public health team giving Victorians even more insight into how were tracking. Things are looking positive and ahead of 28 September, and if were on track with our case numbers, our public health team will review our progress and ensure we can confidently move metropolitan Melbourne to the Second Step.

02.01.2022 This Sunday, I was supposed to be out hearing from you in Heathmont and in Bayswater North, at the Heathmont Village Shops and at the Canterbury Gardens Shops, at a couple of my regular mobile offices. Our neighbourhood is strong and resilient. I am so proud of each and every member of our community for putting in the hard yards and making sacrifices to ensure we get to the other side of this global pandemic together. We’re all staying home to stay safe, I am so thankful fo...r these efforts and proud of our community. I've held dozens of mobile offices right across our community for the last few years. Every two weeks, at supermarkets, shopping strips and malls. It's been like clockwork, and I've loved every second. This can't happen right now. But, I still want to hear from you. But that doesn't change the fact that I'm still here, and I'm still listening. There's much more to do in our community with schools, local healthcare, roads and the environment. And I want to hear from you about that, and any other issue you might like to raise. As your representative in State Parliament and in the Andrews Government, I'm keen to hear what matters to you. So, while my office is closed to physical visits, please email me on [email protected], or call 9738 0577 and you can also fill in my community survey to tell me what matters - https://www.jacksontaylor.com.au/community/community-survey/ I'd love to hear from you. *Photo taken pre COVID-19

02.01.2022 Kev and Sean from FC CityLife and Templeton Cricket Club were stoked to hear that Milpera Reserve is getting a makeover with the Andrews Government chucking in $125,000 to deliver new lights. Was excited to let them know were committing $125,000 to deliver new lights at Milpera Reserve to back them in create local jobs. Our local sporting community have been doing it really tough lately and I know this will be something they can look forward to, when we get to the other sid...e and can do things like play football (soccer) and cricket again! The funding will enable FC CityLife to train, play and host matches year-round particularly throughout the winter months, when days become shorter. It will also mean Templeton Cricket Club who use the reserve are set to benefit from this much needed upgrade. Another great local grassroots club. I cant wait to see this project kick off and I know that our local teams will be really appreciative of the funds being committed by the Andrews Government for this really worthy project. Thanks to Knox City Council for their support as well, co-contributing $125,000 to deliver this and to local Cr, Marcia Timmers-Leitch - Deputy Mayor / Collier Ward Knox City Council who has supported this project from day one.
