21.01.2022 Today we did a 'paddock to plate' day. Headed off to Bacchus Marsh strawberry picking. We looked at the soil, the machinery and the strawberry plants. We looked at the different stages of growth...seedling, flower, green fruit and then ripe, red fruit. (The yummy stage) Then it was time to pick...the strawberries The amount that doesn't make it into the container is ALOT! When we made it back home, we hulled the strawberries, measured out sugar, squeezed lemon and chopped an apple. In the thermomix it all went and 30mins later...jam! Yummy, yummy jam! The guys got to take a small jar home and the rest will be used for morning tea (scones) tomorrow!!!

18.01.2022 What a fun first week of school holidays. Started with Tuesday adventures at the You Yangs, hiking, hut hunting, bug and bird watching and good old dirty play! Next up Wednesday great day at Werribee Zoo, safari bus ride, rustling through the reeds to the lions, going crazy for the gorilla's and happy to see the hippo's...Thursday we were keeping cool at Riverwalk Water Park. Friday, stayed home and did a 'mini make over' of the cubby garden. The kiddo's were quite excited to help pull out all the weeds and old plants and prepare for the new planting. They discussed amongst themselves why they needed to pull out all the roots, why we filled the hole with water before planting and after. They were quite pleased with themselvesAfter all their handwork, they came in and cooked up a 'pizza' storm

18.01.2022 Today and tomorrow we are going with the whole holiday theme! Camping, planes, trains etc. BUT before we head off on a camping trip, we had Nurse Renee come teach us a little first aid. (Concentrating on spider/snake bites, bleeding, bandaging and calling for help. We looked at what's inside a first aid kit. Then we had a little fun listening through a stethoscope for heart beats...bom, bom...bom, bom... Thanks Renee

15.01.2022 Ramadan Mubarak! Today marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, a special time for our Muslim community of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. Wishing our Muslim community a peaceful and happy Ramadan!

11.01.2022 Our camping adventures today. Firstly we listened and worked together to put up tent (luckily it wasn't windy), then stood around unlit fire and had a very long safety talk about fire. We always put 'markers' on the ground so the kiddo's know how close they can go. We talked about what we can touch and what we can't, why and the consequences. Then everyone loaded up their stick with marshmallows, we lit the fire and everyone enjoyed toasting their marshmallows. (Also enjoyed the warmth on this chilly day) Then it was time to play...play...and play!
