06.01.2022 Just an update on the track and what’s been happening after the cyclone and covid 19 restrictions. We have demolished canteen and bar area ready for new facilit...ies, new lighting poles have been installed into the pit area, we still have repairs to do to the lap scorers hut and a new pit hut to come. A lot of cleaning has been done with a heap of full skip-bins taken away. We have new fencing going up this week with the track walls and poles freshly painted. We would like to thank all of our continuous sponsors and members for their ongoing support and help through this tough time. We definitely can’t wait to get everyone back on the track and to see the track full of our wonderful spectators soon enough. We will post some more progress pictures in the coming days! See more

02.01.2022 In Honour of ‘The Outlaw’ This weekend will see the biggest field of the season hit the track for the Wingless Sprints and it is all to honour one man’The Outl...aw’ Des Nash! Des was a speedway stalwart whose legacy still holds strong within Australian Wingless Sprint Racing today. He was one of the founding members of the AWSR, becoming Vice President in its second year, a position he held until his passing. He was also a former State Technical Representative. Nash’s commitment and dedication to Wingless Sprints played a huge part in the betterment of the class over the years, not only through his work behind the scenes, but also by helping to introduce fellow racers to the class and offering his assistance wherever needed, which is why this weekend’s event has been named after him once again. Indeed, the event will officially be known this weekend as the Wormall Plant Hire Des Nash Memorial, with a huge thanks to Craig Wormall for getting behind this weekend’s two night event. Excitingly, Des’ son Lee is back in a Wingless this weekend after retiring from the class several years ago, getting the chance to pilot good friend Lee Redmond’s #52 machine. Despite stepping away from Wingless Sprints a while back, Lee still recorded thirteen feature wins at the Motorplex in the division, which to this day still makes him the most successful Wingless Sprint driver at the Motorplex, a stat he would love to add to this weekend. Adding even more spice to the field is that Des’ Grandson AJ will also be in the field, driving the Tyson Bryden machine under the #55, the number Des used to race, and these two Nash prodigies will be looking to honour the Outlaw in the best way possible! Of course, these are just two of the massive thirty-one nominations that have been received for the two night show this Friday and Saturday night, with a whole host of drivers not just competing for the Memorial win, but also the Perth Motorplex Track Championship! Coming into this weekend it is Brendon Wedge who holds a twenty-eight-point lead in the Track Championship over State Champion Matt Iwanow, while Daran Humfrey is just ten points further back in third after four rounds so far. Ash Hounsfield is another six points further back while Matty Fellowes is just one marker back, meaning the top five are separate by just forty-five points and with 390 points on the line across the weekend, it is absolutely anyone’s game! Matt Iwanow comes into the event in top form, having swept the last two feature races, while Humfrey has also podiumed in two of the last three events, so these two could definitely be ones to watch. Jye McKenzie has hit his straps this season, recording two feature race wins and he would love to do it again this weekend to record the biggest win of his career, while others including Chad Pittard, Dean Gittos, Daniel Keen, Jake Robinson, Blake Iwanow and Ash Hounsfield have also tasted main event success so far this summer and would love to repeat those efforts. All these names plus a pile more have entered, so it is certainly going to be a cracker! Drivers will get two heats each on Friday night prior to a fifteen-lap feature race, while Saturday will see two more heats (one per driver, done on total points from night one) before a Top 8 Dash, a B Main and the all important twenty lap feature race on Saturday night. Be there at the Perth Motorplex this Friday and Saturday night for the Wormall Plant Hire Des Nash Memorial! Release by DTN Media. Wingless Sprints Des Nash Memorial Official Nominations (Friday and Saturday) 31 WA1 Matt Iwanow 2 Blake Iwanow 4 Dean Gittos 5 Bradley Fitzgerald 6 Alex Robinson 7 Jake Robinson 8 Gareth Smith 9 Thomas Britton 13 James Bissaker 16 Daniel Keen 20 Craig Watts 21 Gavin Preen 24 Brandon Sharpe 25 Kieran Norman 27 Cody Dobinson 29 Chad Pittard 31 David Worrall 39 Jarod Glasson 41 Jye Mckenzie 52 Lee Nash 55 AJ Nash 56 Brendon Wedge 57 Kyle Beard 58 Travis Sharpe 70 Luke Hughes 78 Matty Fellowes 82 Shane Thomas 84 Daran Humfrey 87 Jackson Condo 95 Ash Hounsfield 97 Russell Seery
