20.01.2022 With the hot weather and rain it is a perfect time for foot scall. Basically its athletes foot in humans. The sheep become sore n start to limp. Best way to stop this is Cooper sulfate from any produce store. Just mix it with water n either bath the whole hoof or a spray bottle. Either way if u can put it she deep into a dryer paddock will help. Photos attached but its hard to show properly. As always plz feel free to call me if your not sure. Jeff

15.01.2022 With the lack of rain we have had and the lack of Green Grass if you have Lantana on your property it could become a problem for your sheep and goats. if they digest it, it can cause a bottle throat and swelling around the head and then as the poisoning becomes better they can lose skin from around their eyes, lips n ears. it can be fatal but if treated with penicillin and looked after properly they can be cured. the photos attached will show a lamb with Lantana poisoning it does have a bottle throat which can also mean barbers pole worm infestation but in this case the ears are swollen as well and the animal seeks out shade to get out of the sun. it is very obvious so we treated it with penicillin and allowed it to stay out of the sun

12.01.2022 It seems like it's tick season again n they r quiet bad at the moment. I've received 2 messages with sheep going down with ticks. I asked "barnyard betty rescue" for her treatment. Please find below. Thx Bec. For tick/snake bite: Give15ml Vit C injection with a large gauge needle (as its quite thick) into the muscle. It does sting so if she's coherent be prepared for her to kick etc! Then follow up every 2 hours with a heaped teaspoon of ascorbic acid powder mixed with a lit...tle water and fed slowly by syringe, being very careful that it can swallow and it doesnt go down the windpipe and into the lungs. Continue this until there's noticeable improvement. If you only have either injectable or powder just use what you have. And you cant overdose on vit c so dont worry about that. Rescue remedy comes in drops or spray. Give 4 drops every 5 hours. Be careful with dropper it doesnt bite it as its glass. Can be put into plastic syringe if you're worried. Make sure your sheep is sitting sternal (upright). Chest to the ground, how she would normally sit. Dont let it lay on her side as fluid will build up in her lungs. Prop it up with hay bales or something if you need to. Make sure to regularly swap sides and do some stretches with its legs & feet to help circulation and so they dont seize up. Don't force it to eat or drink straight away as its oesophagus/windpipe may be paralysed or spasming and it may choke. Let it eat & drink if it wants to but just keep an eye on it. When it does start drinking electrolytes are a good idea. You can make your own with salt & sugar if you dont have any. See more

11.01.2022 Something to think about if your ringing a tail or testicles. Should only cost $1 Or so for 1ml shot. Its called 5in1 vaccine. It is injected just under the skin not into the muscle.

10.01.2022 With all the wet weather keep an eye out for flys. Also sore feed or foot scall. Sheep will be lame. Again feel free to message me.
