Queensland Magistrates Courts have introduced what is called A Pilot Program, to assist in reducing the number of people on bail who fail to appear. The SMS reminder service will be available to all participants who are:... Adults (18 years and over). Have been granted bail on an undertaking from the Magistrates Court or Police watch house. Have supplied a mobile phone number to Police when charged or have supplied a mobile phone number when signing their bail undertaking. The SMS reminders will be sent to participants one business day before they are listed to appear in Court. Did you know that if you have a solicitor engaged it may not be necessary for you to appear for every Court date? Your lawyer may have the capacity to seek that your appearance be excused. With the new developments of COVID-19, and government recommendations, it is important that we are proactive in safeguarding our clients, staff and local community from further spread of the virus. For this reason, on Monday 30 March 2020, JMR Lawyers and Mediators will begin operating remotely offsite. Although our office doors will be closed, we are still busy working on your matters and are available by telephone and email. ... We are still here to assist all current and new clients.
