24.01.2022 How utterly magical is the ocean? Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like if I didn’t Freedive, if I never got to teach, if I never got that call... to explore this mysterious world that lies beneath. Not everyday looks as gorgeous as this photo. The reality is that sometimes it’s rough as guts! You’re holding in a chunder and still no signs of anything that wants to come and play. So moments like these matter. They are etched into your mind forever. Thanks Will Solis for your dedication to capturing these shots when all of us were whirling around in sea lion poo like giddy little carnies, and Johannes Egberts for inviting me into your retreats and allowing me to share what I love to do.



23.01.2022 Working hard, messing up, stoically moving forward and always biting the bullet. Hopefully creating opportunities to amend, clean up and be seen for all they do. But let's own it. Making time for ourselves, reflecting with our fellow man and calling in help every now and then is not our greatest strength is it? So maybe we need an extra push. A hint in the right direction. Towards something with enough momentum for us to simply sit back, let it flow and just for a moment, get... to shine in all that we are, once were and can be. Playful. Powerful. Brave. Caring. Kind. Open. The beauty of men lies in the contrasts of complexity and simplicity. The most difficult decisions can rest on one of our mates, relatives or our partners simply saying: Bro. Go do this. It's Epic - Done. And yeah, it's that easy. Jump in the car with the boys on Friday morning and get back home Sunday evening. Stop overthinking it. Get out of your head and follow the excitement. "After hiking for 2 hours into the backcountry beyond Perisher Valley, the sun was well and truly setting when our group of 33 men found the ICEY mountain wind cutting through layers of clothing. I looked around and thought, 'Are we really going to do this?' . Stepping through the snow in bare feet felt like thousands of tiny blades cutting into my lower limbs and the ICEY frozen lake couldn't have been more then -4C. With a yell from our facilitators, 'Dont be the last one in. Do it for your brothers!' . The group climbed over the sharp rocks that hid in the shallows and pushed into the deeper water. My chest felt like it was encased in concrete and burning at the same time. . As we formed a circle, the initial adrenaline rush very soon changed into a calmness which filled the ICEY waters. Within a minute the water surface became smooth as glass as our breathing control took over. For the next two minutes or so barely a sound was made" . 09.01.2022 "A breath of love can take you all the way to infinity" - Rumi It all starts and ends with the Breath; at least, it did for me. There are a lot of new faces joining us at the moment, so I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself and speak into a little of my own story.... Which began one afternoon about 5 years ago on a sofa somewhere in Amsterdam. I was feeling defeated after a 10-year cycle of running away from myself. I was in pain. Clouded by the fog of depression and shutdown. Unable to live with myself. It hurt others. There seemed no way out. When someone offered me a way in BREATHE And there it was, hope, I felt light, tears, compassion, and possibility just explode inside of me At first, Breath was a way to keep my head above water, to start making some moves again. Learning to trust myself, my body, and my heart, I built up more Energy, Resilience, Understanding, and Passion over time. Johannes lectures to Torrens University Australia students and teachers about how connection & nurture are our very nature. . Himself a school dropout at age 14, he describes Self Regulation as the Holy Grail of human development - The missing link. Self-regulation is defined as the ability to control and influence your emotions, behavior and attention levels.... More specifically, 'Emotional self regulation refers to the ability to manage disruptive emotions and impulses' . This framework provides insight into the Polyvagal Theory, insights that have personally helped me understand and come to peace with so many aspects of myself and my past. First let’s establish the influence of stress in modern life as a threat to our homeostasis.
