24.01.2022 It's been a while since I was a junior student but I still remember the joy of spending time in the great outdoors on holidays. The Junior Ranger School Holiday program is a fantastic initiative where Parks Victoria rangers run activities for kids aged 6 to 12 and their families from Saturday, 3 April, until Friday, 16 April. Best of all...it's completely free! There are over 200 free activities available, encouraging kids to get out into nature, inspire their curiosity and... teach them about Victoria’s wonderful wildlife and natural and cultural heritage. Activities are running all throughout the state, from the Grampians National Park in the west, Cobram Regional Park in the north, Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park in the east, and plenty of great events in our urban parks. Make the most of the remaining school holidays and book now at: https://juniorrangers.com.au/whats-on/

23.01.2022 It's World Health Day, today, and a timely reminder for all of us to prioritise our health. In 2020 many of us missed the health appointments we usually attend throughout the year health check-ups, screening appointments, vaccinations and getting that new thing looked at that wasn’t there before. If you've been putting off your health appointments, call your healthcare provider, today, or get online and make a booking.... #Health #Hawthorn #Camberwell #GlenIris #Canterbury

22.01.2022 With the sighting of the crescent moon, Muslim communities globally observe the holy month of Ramadan a time of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. Commemorating Muhammad's first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam. Our state is deeply proud to be home to 200,000 Muslim Victorians, with Islam being the fourth most commonly practiced religion in Victoria.... I wish all Victorian Muslims a blessed Ramadan.

20.01.2022 I recently visited the site of the former Toorak Road level crossing, which was removed 12 months ago, 6 months ahead of schedule. What a difference it has made to traffic congestion in the area! The boom gates no longer hold up traffic and the community are enjoying the new walking and cycle paths. #deliveringforhawthorn

19.01.2022 It’s been great to do some reading over this Easter break. A great man and Premier was John Cain. Principled, gutsy, a gentleman and very much in the service of ALL Victorians.

14.01.2022 Today is Yom Hashoah, a day to remember the victims, survivors and heroes of the Holocaust. On Yom Hashoah, six are candles lit, each one representing one million Jewish lives lost. This also serves as a touching representation of the triumph of light over darkness. As a country with one of the highest concentrations of Jewish Holocaust survivors outside of Israel,... acknowledging this date is particularly poignant. Approximately 27,000 survivors immigrated to Australia following World War II. Victorians will continue to mourn those lost to this atrocity and honour the stories told by survivors that will continue to be passed down through the generations. The Victorian Government is also committed educating future generations about this time in history. Thank you to our Jewish community for your many contributions to our multicultural state, we are proud you have made Victoria your home. Unto every person there is a name.

01.01.2022 I wish you all a happy Easter! This break is a chance to reconnect with friends and family...and tuck into some well deserved chocolate and hot cross buns. If you can, a donation to the Good Friday Appeal is always worthwhile: https://donation.goodfridayappeal.com.au/

01.01.2022 Did you know that Victoria’s Gender Equality Act commences today? This landmark reform will improve workplace gender equality in around 300 Victorian public sector organisations, universities and local councils. Everyone deserves to feel safe, equal and respected at work, and that’s why these organisations will need to show they are making meaningful progress on workplace gender equality. This includes adopting policies to reduce the gender pay gap, improving access to flexib...le work and reducing rates of workplace sexual harassment. You can find out more about the Act at https://www.genderequalitycommission.vic.gov.au/
