My office will be in touch to organise collection. this week I'm giving away two First Choice Food Co-op Veggie Boxes. ... The First Choice Food Co-op is a project of the West Moonah Community House and Goodwood Community Centre, Tasmania which increases local access to healthy food. Just like this post to enter the draw.

25.01.2022 Children are encouraged to walk and communte safely to school for National Walk Safely to School Day. It's a good opportunity to reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour and promote the health benefits of walking. Great to see students from Bowen Road Primary School getting involved!

25.01.2022 Roger Jaensch indicated that he only became aware of concerns about the Brahminy program following media reporting. Has Roger Jaensch misled Tasmanians yet again? Was he made aware of Child Safety Service’s investigation in February?

25.01.2022 My letter to the editor of the Examiner today.

25.01.2022 These stories are heartbreaking. As Patrick McGorry says, it takes political will and community support to make sure the investments are there. The government needs to release the report and explain how it will implement change as soon as possible.... Young people shouldn't have to wait any longer for the support they deserve.

25.01.2022 We need a Commission of Inquiry into these abhorrent child abuse allegations. Why is the Gutwein Government resisting?

24.01.2022 POST UPDATE: Congrats to Helen Mazur and Alana Berry. Your names have been drawn as this week's Veggie Box winners. Who wants to win one of 2 First Choice Food Co-op Veggie Boxes? A collaboration between West Moonah Community House and Goodwood Community Centre, Tasmania, the Co-op works to provide fair-priced, high quality, fresh fruit and veggies to our community.... Like this post to go into the draw!

24.01.2022 The Liberals cut to JobKeeper from today will hit 58,216 Tasmania workers. It makes no sense in the grip of a pandemic and recession to risk more jobs and local business closures.

24.01.2022 It's been a busy budget estimates week in parliament. Today, Legislative Council 'Committee B' scrutinised Minister Rockliff's portfolios.

23.01.2022 Talking about some of my favourite things in Claremont this morning - Craig Farrell MLC, jobs and TAFE!

23.01.2022 David O'Byrne MP and I sit on the Public Accounts Committee which has been conducting an inquiry into the Government’s economic response to COVID-19. It's an important function of the parliament to provide accountability and oversight of executive government. Today we heard evidence from West by North West, ANMF, Tourism Tasmania and the Master Builders Association.

23.01.2022 This week is National Child Protection Week. Protecting children is the responsibility of every adult and we must create safe, nurturing environments for all of Australia's children.

22.01.2022 The State Government is effectively the parent of these young people. What responsible parent would leave their children in these care arrangements when these allegations remain untested? If it was a teacher or another professional responsible for the care of children and young people, they would be stood down while it was investigated. ... We can provide the cultural and therapeutic care they deserve in Tasmania. It's just that Minister Jaensch hasn't done anything about it.

22.01.2022 The Legislative Council voted unanimously in support of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill today.

09.01.2022 Elections must be a battle of ideas, not a battle of bank accounts. Tasmania has the weakest political donation disclosure laws in the country. Ella Haddad MP has just tabled Labor’s bill to change that.

09.01.2022 As Lisa says, we need to make sure students life prospects are developmentally sound, grounded in strong literacy skills and supported by clear educational pathways. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their potential.

09.01.2022 The Liberals own budget figures show unemployment getting worse this financial year. Tasmania needs a plan get more people back into work. 02.01.2022 Yesterday in the Legislative Council, I recognised Mitch McPherson, SPEAK UP Stay ChatTY and the difference they are making to raise mental health awareness in our communities. Mitch courageously recounts his own tragic experience in an effort to help others and he is an inspiration to us all.

02.01.2022 EVERYONE needs literacy because language is central to the way we communicate with each other. It is essential not only for learning in school, but for supporting a successful life. A collection of reports have been developed by the The Peter Underwood Centre for Educational Attainment.

01.01.2022 Great to participate in the Commissioner for Children and Young People Tasmania Ambassadors Forum today in Launceston. Deputy Premier - Jeremy Rockliff, Leader of the Greens - Cassy O' Connor and I heard directly from young people about important issues including, climate change and the environment, mental health and equality and diversity. There was plenty of accountability for us as decision makers and many profound contributions from the young people present.
