19.01.2022 Well Ziggy and I decided to venture down to the beach these last couple of days late in the afternoon as he loves to go nuts romping in the waters edge (as do I). I hadnt been here since the recent storms and nearly fell over with shock. The massive rock shelf where I often climb up on to sit and contemplate my navel was completely destroyed! It sat at the bottom of the cliffs about 6 metres off the ground and now is just a massive pile of rocks. The gentle slope from the s...and dunes to the beach is like a cliff edge and rocks are exposed on the beach that I never knew were there. 17.01.2022 Sketching at Lisas place at Laguna just outside Wollombi. On 3rd December 2019 the immense bushfires surrounded the property licking at the doorstep but thanks to our amazing Fire Brigade they saved her house. It is incredible to see the regeneration 9 months on. Charred and blackened trees abound but new growth springs up all around. 16.01.2022 Oh what a lovely weekend - away with The Girls in Wollombi. Fourteen of us met when our children were at Primary School at St Josephs in Narrabeen and weve been firm friends ever since - we have Book Club where we chat a bit about books but mainly enjoy a glass of wine or two and then we have weekends away every year - I feel so lucky to know such wonderful people. Finished off the weekend sketching in Wollombi and Laguna with Sarah. When we sketched the historic Boiling Billy cottage in Wollombi the owner, Mike, then showed us inside - lucky us!

This one might work next to Barrier Reef I which I finished yesterday. Its hard to photograph these vibrant blues as the camera doesnt show up the different nuances in colour. I last went there in 1983 and I must say it’s still the quintessential hippy village it was then, just a little bigger. What a day - drive from St Helen’s up through pastures and into ancient forests high up to the start of the epic mountain bike trail Blue Derby which winds for 42km to the ocean at Swim Cart Beach at the Bay of Fires. Nass was the brave one and rode all the way down and I met him at the bottom for a picnic by the beach. He was cream-crackered as only stopped once. Top spot!!
