11.01.2022 The Julia Creek/McKinlay region is home to the Walkabout Creek Hotel, of Crocodile Dundee fame, but it's now without a functional hospital due to staff shortage...s and an over-reliance on contract workers. In recent weeks the Julia Creek Multi Purpose Health Service has been downgraded from a Level 2 facility to a Level 1 facility, meaning that inpatients cannot be looked after and the aged care resdidents have been shipped out of town. Thanks to Kendra Lawrance/Megan Pellow/Debbie Godier/Lorraine Walker/Shauna Royes/Neil & Ellen Warner/Jess Kerr/Jo-Anne Butler/Michelle Sollitt/Gordon Fels. Our local Sargent Cath Purcell dropped in a couple of times for a chat and to see how things were going - thanks Cath. Even one of our Volunteer's fury pet needed a drink whilst out and about - this spritely pet is in excess of 10yrs old - good to see you Nell. Once again a huge thank you to you all and a gentle reminder that the Last week-end of the School Holidays will be 17th & 18th April - I'm still looking to finalise this Roster ASAP. This coming week-end will be our Bus Trip to Maxwellton Races - will give you a final update on Friday - will also advise if there are any spare seats available. Don't forget to wear a hat and bring water just in case it's a warm day and also bring your face masks in case you cannot safely self distance from others.
