17.01.2022 Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS for people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Easter...n Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands and parts of Upper South East, Lower South East, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts. A vigorous front associated with a complex low pressure system will sweep across the State this evening and early Wednesday morning. As of late this afternoon, the front is nearing western coasts and will move eastwards to reach central parts including Adelaide around midnight. Damaging wind gusts in excess of 90 km/h are likely with squally showers and thunderstorms for a period ahead of and following the front as it moves across the warning area. In addition, localised destructive wind gusts in excess of 120 km/h are a risk with stronger showers and thunderstorms, mainly about western facing coastal areas with and just ahead of the front. Damaging winds averaging 50-70 km/h at times are also possible away from shower activity. The threat of severe winds will move eastwards and ease later Wednesday morning. A cold, fresh to strong west to southwesterly airstream with scattered showers will persist. For the Adelaide area, squally showers will increase from early evening with the main risk period for severe winds from around 9 pm tonight, through to around 3 am Wednesday morning. Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Ceduna, Maitland, Murray Bridge and Kingscote. Gale force winds averaging 65 km/h with gusts to 85 km/h were observed at Wudinna around 4:30 pm this afternoon. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move vehicles under cover or away from trees; * Secure or put away loose items around your property. * Keep clear of fallen power lines; * Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDS21037.shtml

17.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to the mother's within our brigade either as members, wives, partners or parents. Thank you for what you do and your support.

16.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning ... We will remember them. Last year the Kadina CFS Brigade were honoured to be included in the local ANZAC Day March but this year's commemoration was very different but means no less. We thank those who have served for us. 13.01.2022 It's still Fire Danger Season in most of SA, so if you're thinking of having a backyard campfire or bonfire for warmth/comfort at home over the long weekend the...re are things that you need to consider. You can have one, providing: - the fire is in a 30cm deep trench and no more than one square metre in area - you have a 4 metre cleared space around and above the fire - a responsible person is in attendance at all times with water/an appropriate extinguisher. Please note that only charcoal is allowed to be burnt for comfort fires within a metropolitan area or within township boundaries by the EPA Legislation. Check with your local council before lighting a comfort fire. The use of above ground fires such as chimineas, fire drums, braziers are only permitted with the use of permits. #StopTheSpread #StaySafe #StayHome

02.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we have lost a past member and great friend of the Kadina CFS Brigade. Mike Hurrell was sadly killed in motor vehicle accident in Victoria on Friday. Mike joined the Kadina Brigade in 2010 coming from Port Lincoln where he was a longtime member. He was a hard working member until he left to move to Victoria 2 years ago for employment reasons. Mike became close friends with many of us and will be sadly missed by brigade members. Our condolences go out to Mike's family. RIP brother.
