08.01.2022 In the modern world we battle to stay away from sugar. But in the bush the hidden treasure ‘Sugarbag’ or honey from native bees - is unbeatable on the Bush Tucker menu. So on Patsy’s day off we were out in the bush again finding Bush Tucker. ... We found the treasure - ‘Sugarbag’ Truly magical - complete with orange pollen from nearby Grevilleas in flower. #Kakadu #bushtucker #bushfood #sugarbag #nativebees #doKakadu

07.01.2022 Kakadu freshwater mussels.... not just bush food ..... some locals say they fly out of their shell at night and feed on ti-tree flowers, giving them a distinctive taste at flowering time, they are replenished in the wet season from the mouths of rainbow serpents that move through the waterways and the meat inside can be used traditionally to sing/make destructive storms that would cut the trees 'like a chainsaw'.

06.01.2022 Patsy holds a traditional severe pain relieving burning 'moxa' stick - a native banksia core - used to treat deep pain by pushing the burning red hot tip deep into the skin or tooth ache. It is alleged that it only really hurts when it's initially going thru the skin. It was also used to carry the fire spark as it smoulders very slowly.
