20.01.2022 COUNCIL CONGRATULATES SCHOOL LEADERS Griffith City Council acknowledged local school leaders this week, with a special event held in Memorial Park. Griffith Ma...yor, Councillor John Dal Broi welcomed the leaders from the three high school sites, and 13 primary schools from across the Local Government Area, congratulating them for being such positive role models. Each year Council holds a School Leaders event to recognise student leaders from across the City, said Councillor Dal Broi. Being chosen as a school leader or captain is an important opportunity for students to step into a leadership role and proudly represent their school. The young leaders were given insight into what it takes to be an outstanding leader, with Mayor John Dal Broi, Member for Murray Helen Dalton and Director of Education David Lamb, sharing words of wisdom. Council’s fifth annual School Leaders event, held on Tuesday, 30 March 2021, aimed to celebrate, encourage and inspire the next generation. As I told the students, teachers and parents who gathered in Memorial Park, when I was a young boy I never dreamt I’d be doing what I am today. But anything is possible if you work hard and believe in yourself, said Councillor Dal Broi. School Leaders were presented with a Griffith City Lapel Pin and a Certificate and were encouraged to provide input into reviewing the Guiding Griffith 2040, Community Strategic Plan. Students were invited to add their ideas for Griffith’s future to Big Ideas Wall. Council also launched two creative competitions as part of the Community Strategic Plan review, encouraging high school students to submit their ‘We love Griffith’ photos, while K-6 students can create an A3 artwork depicting what they imagine for Griffith in the future.
