25.01.2022 A bit over a week ago I broke my dominant arm in two places .. I couldn’t know how much my life would change .. First was to get my pain under control , a week later we’re still trying to manage that , to try and stay on top of the pain as I heal.. I am still making marks using my right hand and new ideas are being explored as I play with making my own inks from plants and barks, as well as using earth pigment ,... I am really enjoying this abstract mark making allowing me to be free in my intuitive mark making process.. making my own pigment and inks,,is a blast and I am enjoying doing so, as I use my art as my own therapy , it’s not enough to teach Art fas Therapy you have to walk your talk , and it’s helping me process pain, and frustration.. Sitting still within nature just outside my door , it’s in the stillness we hear what she/Mother is telling us.. 25.01.2022 "Is it just me, or is there a strange feeling of, dare I say it....relief at the moment ? Perhaps we are all aware on levels, that humanities trajectory has been unsustainable, emotionally, physically, and environmentally. As serious as this situation is, perhaps there are many who are relieved in some ways that things have slowed... that the planet gets a break, that we have a great reason to go back to being kinder and more mindful, that we have permission to sit in isolati...on, to paint, to read, to look at trees. Perhaps this is a pointing to a version of a future that is more sustainable and fulfilling. 17.01.2022 Two months ago I broke my wrist , it was my dominant hand, I tried to hold a pencil but there was no way I could , I was devestated , but I was determined that i wasn’t going to dwell on what I couldn’t do .. So I decided to try something different I had dabbled not to gracefully in watercolour before so with my right hand I started to create , of course I felt mentally and emotionally much better the moment I started creating , but I was also concerned my work was somehow not enough, I know that’s bullshit every Mark I make has its beauty and I am Enough.. 04.01.2022 Art As Therapy is a wonderful tool to help cope with the shit life throws at you .. I have had the pleasure through Art to be the conduit that connects people to the joy of Art and met some amazing people in the process of connecting to utilise art practices as meditation/ medication.. Since I broke my dominant arm /hand and I couldn’t without great difficulties and pain use a coloured pencil, i was miserable, and in a fit of sniffles I realised I needed to walk my talk, so I started to play with watercolour and found that I really enjoy it and am looking forward to where this journey takes me..After sharing my sketch I was commissioned to do the sketch as a much larger piece .. 03.01.2022 'Feeding Time' KarenWiseman Was created in response to time in lockdown due to the #covid_19 pandemic.. This image came to me through a friend, and although not my own image as I normally work from, and although not native flora and fauna of Australia,,, the moment I saw this image the narrative within isolation, unfolded.. Although not my photo, it was my narrative ... For the most part I have enjoyed the lockdown, the slower pace, the extra time with my darling husband, e...xtra uninterrupted time in the studio, and extra time for reflection/meditation/prayer.
