19.01.2022 KS FOR KATOKE FINAL UPDATE... (Part 2) The Katoke Trust is a grassroots organisation, which means there are no admin costs. Further, all work is voluntary and done by individuals who can get behind a great cause and do their bit to help provide the greatest gift of all, education. You can guarantee that every dollar donated to #ksforkatoke is going directly towards to the students and community of Katoke - how special is that?! So how are we using the funds raised in our June... 2020 end of financial year appeal? Student Sponsorship & Remote Learning Support! KLSS has already educated over a thousand students, but there are many children who are either not supported through donations, or are not receiving a secondary education at all. The success of this appeal will help continue to provide these children with the priceless gift of education as well as enabling students who were forced to study in their remote villages during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue their schooling remotely. Malaria & COVID-19 Health Literacy! As the Coronavirus spreads rapidly around the globe, resources in many of the worlds poorest nations have been stretched as they tackle this health crisis while ensuring that other killer diseases, such as malaria, are not neglected. The Trust continues to equip locals to care for and protect the vulnerable through its malaria prevention program. Healthcare workers have also visited the school recently to educate staff and students about Coronavirus as well as providing masks for students and soap for local communities. Some of our ex-students are now helping local communities as they head up health awareness programs and studies to prevent malaria. Education is a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you for your support and enabling this life transforming work!

16.01.2022 The rate at which the coronavirus has spread throughout the globe has unsettled us all. It has been an incredibly difficult time for many as we adjust to new ways of working and living. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been directly impacted, health workers on the front line and those who are leading the response to fight this global pandemic. Coronavirus has now been found in Tanzania and while only a handful of cases (12) have been registered to date, the ...Government has acted swiftly by closing all schools (including Katoke-Lweru) for 30 days and most staff and students have returned home early for an extended Term 1 vacation. Restricting the spread of the virus in Tanzania where communications and medical facilities are limited is critical. The situation is changing rapidly, as will the needs of those who need our support. If youre able to help please consider making a one-off general donation to the Katoke Trust. This will enable us to respond flexibly in the emerging circumstances. We will keep you informed as the situation develops. We trust God to lead and provide and will do everything within our power to make a difference. Donate now: https://www.givenow.com.au/katoketrustforoverseasaid

12.01.2022 It is our vision that the $50,000 raised through Ks for Katoke will help to support 3 key projects. One of these projects is HEALTH LITERACY! "Severe disruptions to insecticide-treated net campaigns and in access to antimalarial medicines could lead to a doubling in the number of malaria deaths in sub-Saharan Africa this year compared to 2018..." (WHO, April 2020) Yolande, a Ks for Katoke Participant, has shared images from a Malaria Prevention Worship that she took part in d...uring her time in Katoke last year. 09.01.2022 Katoke-Lweru Secondary School provides an important bridge between Primary and Tertiary education. Its awesome to see some of our first students go on graduate from their Tertiary studies. Heres what Beathi had to say as she reflected on the impact that the school had on her life. "The day Miss Anna told me that I have got sponsorship was the best news ever especially due to the fact that my Dad [was] facing financial crisis in our family. " "KLSS was more than a school... to me and my family, its a place where I realized my potential and capabilities and I started feeling the love of a family. By the time I left school in 2016, I was very confident, systematic, focused, competent and sure of speaking and writing in English. "My Dream is to see us creating Katoke Trust of Tanzania as one way of appreciation and recognition to an outstanding impact made in our lives through KLSS ." "I see myself as an influential, educated, godly young lady who can cause change in peoples life by working, inspiring and encouraging them towards their dreams, especially those who are going through inferiority complex, and those who perceive life circumstances as a barrier towards their desired career." Sponsorship can transform lives - Can you sponsor someone like Beathi? Visit our website for more info.
