19.01.2022 On 9pm Sunday May 9th, run to help find a cure for spinal cord injury with the Wings for Life World Run! The Sydney location this year will be a circuit around Centennial Park, or you can take part wherever you are in Australia via the Wings For Life World Run App. Each year participating runners around the world, connected by the Wings For Life app, start running at the exact same time. So, you can be running in Sydney at 9pm but competing with runners in Dubai at 2pm and ru...nners in Barcelona at 11am! Another thing that makes it unique is there’s no finish line, instead the finish line catches you. A catcher car starts 30 minutes after the race has begun and one-by-one eliminates participants from the race as it catches up to them. 17.01.2022 After last year's cancellation The Peoplecare Fitness 5 and Kerryn McCann 10 fun runs are back in 2021. We kick off at a new venue on Sunday May 30th so mark the date in your running diaries and start training now for Illawarra’s longest running funrun. As announced last year, we are moving the events to the Kembla Joggers national-class cross-country facility at Integral Energy Recreation Park, Darkes Rd, Brownsville. Come and run in the footsteps of world-class athletes at ...the venue of the 2019 Australian Championships and this years NSW Championships. The program now includes 3 shorter races, 1km, 2km & 3km distances for juniors, and anyone older for that matter who might prefer something shorter to the 5km & 10km feature events. Further details about the events, including how to enter, will be posted in the next week or two. Running in the Kerryn McCann 10 will support the Illawarra Cancer Carers with $10 from every entry donated. You will also receive FREE entry if you join (or have joined) Kembla Joggers in 2021. 12.01.2022 Vale Dave Chisholm It is with great sadness we share the news of the passing overnight of Dave Chisholm, aged 79. Dave has been a local presence in athletics for many years and coached many local junior athletes. Dave was a leading NSW distance runner in the ‘50s and ‘60s winning national medals in the Australian 3000m steeplechase and cross country events. After his own competitive career, Dave made a significant contribution to coaching in NSW.... We will share any further details of arrangements and the aforementioned ANSW article.

09.01.2022 Due to the unforeseen circumstances regarding COVID-19, the Athletics NSW team have made a decision to postpone the XC Championships from Saturday 8th and Sunda...y 9th August, to Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September. At this stage, we are hoping that the Willandra Cross Country venue, located in Tapitallee, will be available on these two dates. However, if necessary, the event will be hosted at the Integral Energy Park, Kembla Grange, with the assistance of the Kembla Joggers club. These details will be confirmed by Wednesday, 19th August. We deeply apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate the impact of accommodation bookings and travel arrangements. However, we currently are operating in an incredibly challenging and ever-changing environment with COVID-19 affecting how all our events are being delivered. The Athletics NSW team asks for your patience as we work through the implications associated with the postponement of this event, and we will be publishing more information on this matter in coming days. We thank the athletics community for your understanding on this matter, and we look forward to delivering the XC Championships on September 5th and 6th.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Jessica Hull on setting a new Australian 5000m record in a time of 14:43.80, coming home fourth at the recent Monaco Diamond League meet. The previous record was held by Benita Willis and was set in 2002! Amazingly this time was also a huge 17 second PB for Jess! 01.01.2022 Cancellation of XC Relays @ Miranda Park - 22nd August To ensure the health and safety of all our athletes, spectators, and workforce, the 2020 NSW XC Relay Cha...mpionships have been cancelled. The original Miranda Park course was not suitable to meet the NSW Health COVID protocols. Various alternate locations were explored, and unfortunately, none are available and/or suitable to deliver the XC Relays event in the current environment. With that said, the Athletics NSW Team are working very hard to be able to deliver an alternate relays event, and are currently looking at logistics for delivery of this event. At this stage, no details can be confirmed, however as soon as we are able to lock in a suitable venue, date/timetable, and other logistics, we will let our entire database know as soon as possible all relevant details of this event. We thank you for your continued understanding during these trying times, and we hope to bring you a positive update regarding the replacement relays event very shortly.
