25.01.2022 RIP ST DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD

24.01.2022 Hi all, Im hoping everyone is going ok atm. Its a different world right now especially in Vic but mainly Melbourne and surrounding areas. If youre in this zone then youll know first hand the strain upon a lot of us. Even for myself Ive had many more depressive episodes than normal. Im lucky that Im a seasoned campaigner at getting back on track but for others this may be a more difficult task. Ask for help if you need it and dont think that these ports of call are... no longer available. Lifeline, Beyond Blue and many others, also your GP. Your family and friends may also be an amazing support for you, they may also be feeling the same. You can talk to each other and find ways of creating a better level of mental health together. Over the past 6 years weve had some fantastic support on our page and Id be stoked for this to continue. Ive talked about how most of my posts are directed at the minority and some of these guys are very private people. The only difference between them and myself is that Ive chosen to speak up for them all, which includes myself. Unfortunately the stigma regarding our mental health is rather high. I know there are many who read my posts and I know that Ive helped a lot of people also, but theres some who very rarely like, comment or share my posts, or have even liked the page. Without more post shares, page and posts likes it has less of a reach. The further this travels the more people that could be potentially be helped or even saved. So if youre one of those people who wants to remain private I do understand but the difference is that you could change someone elses perspective on their own choices to accept that they may need help, get that help and be on a road to recovery. I will always appreciate everyone who has been involved and helped create a place where these topics are discussed openly because after all thats what this whole thing is about. Have a fantastic day everyone. Please like, share and like this page. Regards Nik DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD depression positive See more

23.01.2022 So who is it that continually lifts you back up when you fall? It might pay to check up on them when youve found a level of peace and happiness. Saviours can sometimes be the difference between life or death. With current world issues at the forefront of most of our lives we can sometimes forget that we still have so many that are able to guide, support and save lives. Sometimes the saviours need saving too!! No one is invincible. DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD ... depression positive NS See more

21.01.2022 Depression and suicide have a huge impact on Australian society, over 1 million fellow Aussies are suffering from depression. 21.01.2022 Every day life atm seems to bring so many more challenges. A long time ago I had no tools or any idea of how to manage them, for years I just weathered the storm but unfortunately over time even the strong can demise. I can still be influenced by my depression and lately its a job in itself. ... I decided a long time ago to choose life but not only for myself but for others too. My vision and passion to reduce suicide in Australia never changes. The current restrictions are making it very hard to survive and I think many are struggling. Please if youre struggling atm call Lifeline 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue 1300 22 46 36 Their lines are open 24/7 with experienced operators waiting to talk with you. Everything is confidential. Who knows this could be a new beginning for YOU. No shame in asking for help or shedding a tear. LIFE IS GIVEN BY NATURE.... LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE. 20.01.2022 Im very concerned for so many atm. Im watching so many people close to me beginning to demise. People whom are usually confident, patient and focused. Im concerned because I feel that if this is whats going on around me in my closet circle then there must be many others outside this circle going through it as well. If you are coping ok atm and surrounded by similar stuff then whatever positive energy you can give out then please do so. We are all in one of the tough...est periods that many of us are able to remember. It has to be a combined effort of support from us all. Some days will be harder than others but we all have to try and look at whatever positives are in front of us. Unfortunately for us all, decisions for 6 million people are being made by only a small handful of people. I feel that these decisions must include many others as they misrepresent factual information. All the facts need to be considered and this just isnt happening as it should. I hope that predictions are only that. To all my mob, to your mob and every mob, look out for one another, yourselves and anyone you think may need it. Hard times dont necessarily mean hard lives, lets make it better by looking forward to better times. This will not last forever and Im hoping that all of us may return to a normal way of life ASAP. Thoughts are with everyone. Stand tall and strong Me, Im looking forward to heading out further than ever before. 20.01.2022 Its always good to stop and say gday to crew that you dont know because everyone has a story some amazing and most very interesting. I make a point now to talk to strangers so they may not actually be. Sometimes people feel awkward but sometimes you can spend a long time just talking about life and so many other things. Its a great way to feel part of the world and I think it can be a transfer of positive energy. Especially now people are so apprehensive about so many ...things but a conversation can ultimately change that. We as humans must communicate for our general well being and development, plus its great to find someone who has things in common with you. Have you ever met a complete stranger and felt like youve know them for a long time? Its great to know that there are still people prepared to have a chat. If youre worried about it atm then social distance and wear your mask. Lets not lose social interaction. We need it more than ever!!!! The world is faced with the grim possibility that things may never be the same, so please least try and keep those important social foundations in tact so our children can learn from us and continue to look out for everyone in our community. Keep yourself motivated by looking into the future because its holds good things for us all. Its a little more than a bump in the road but roads can be repaired. Stay committed to happiness and freedom and it will almost certainly comeback for us all. Stick together and look out for as many as you can, Regards NiK DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD See more

18.01.2022 Without support when help is needed can be devastating. I have some amazing support from some of the most capable and trusted people. They continue their assistance, expertise, advice and care continually even though they are under so much strain from the current situation with Covid. Unselfish, giving and selfless acts to assist me forward. To John and Mick you guys have always invited me in and have always advised me when I knew no different. 16.01.2022 Ok so its R U OK Day but its also World Suicide Prevention Day today. An interesting co-incidence as both initiatives are about saving lives. For me I consider myself as one of the lucky ones who where given a second chance to live my life. This post is in memory of the many lives that I knew personally that decided to take their own lives. They left behind family and friends wondering why.... When someone decides to end their life a huge void is left with sometimes little to no healing for family and friends. Its up to us all to assist in reducing these numbers. We can do it!!! Stay in touch with them all even the ones you think are tough, independent and strong. No one is immune to the effects ill mental health especially in this current situation. This might sound harsh but when they go theres no coming back!!! A hunch, a thought, a call, just do it!!! They matter and so do you!! DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD NS

14.01.2022 Yeah, so sometimes you think that you might have most of the tools, knowledge, experience and self work to keep you from falling down into that emptiness. It isnt something that cant be pinned down or stopped, You cant just snap out of it... Manage it, fight it, rise above it!!!!!! What happens when thats all you seem to do is fight it? Gets tiring hey? We can be told to do this and to do that, hell Ive done it myself but sometimes not matter what, no Physcologist, friend, family member, medication can change where youre at. I think for many people they get to a point where they do give up as much as theyve tried to stand strong and tall and do everything possible to achieve a sound mental status. I am struggling with the current climate in Melbourne for being locked up or down.....whatever!!! Its taking a huge toll on so many and the ramifications are unforeseen but predicted to be huge. Ok so theyve estimated that over the next 5 years 20,000 aussies could ultimately be lost to suicide. Thats 1000 more lives each year on top of an already huge suicide rate. Is all this going to be worth it? Theres an increased chance that you will know one of those 20,000 people!!! Ill say one thing we are lucky in this grand country of ours that there are an amazing amount of people trying to change that Id be one Can you help me? DEPRESSION DOESNT DISCRIMINATE DDD NOR WILL IT EVER

14.01.2022 As our lives begin to be changed once more we may feel like things are getting out of control. We are all being inconvenienced but the experts seem to think these restrictions will move us closer to normality. Until a vaccine is found this will continue. Stay positive and stick together with family. FaceTime is a must for other family and friends and try to exercise at least once a day. Stay connected with as many people as you can and keep a positive focus on future unres...tricted outings/ holidays and gatherings. It will pass eventually and our lives may get back to where they once where. This is not the end of the world. Sometimes its hard to find positivity when times get tough but we must try. Comedy, Ive found is a great way to release negative thoughts. We have access to so many different comedians via the internet. Have a hunt around to find the right comedian for you. Having a laugh has always been a great healer of mine, maybe it could help you. Dont be like him, turn your frown upside down and find the positives in your life, theyre everywhere!! 13.01.2022 If you are someone who has never understood a depression sufferer I’ll enlighten you to a few things that you’d probably never realised. It’s something you just can’t snap out of and by asking them to is like asking a deaf person to hear better. It’s like you want to go out with friends but you can’t or won’t.... You see every one else happy and moving forward and you are standing still or that’s what you truly believe. You find yourself making excuses why you can’t leave your house. You drink alcohol and take drugs because you think it makes you feel better. You eat more than normal or not at all. You don’t answer your phone to most people. You dismiss anyone who asks why? You may decide you’re not worth much to anyone or anything. You talk yourself down in your thoughts. Your self care diminishes. You effectively isolate yourself from many. You don’t sleep or you don’t get out of bed. You can gain or lose weight You may despise who you are You may only concentrate on negative thoughts You may feel like you are suffocating in negativity You may become angry or cry more than usual These are many things that may indicate to you that someone you know and love is suffering. Now you have a little insight into some possible symptoms of depression you may be able to intervene and support your loved one. First step is to get your loved one to acknowledge that things aren’t quite right. Second step is to encourage them to seek help. Third step is to offer to take them to a GP if they’d rather not go alone. The GP will be able to help by diagnosing the problem. If your loved one is struggling with depression or another mental health issue the GP will initiate a mental health plan with a certain amount of visits to either a psychologist or psychiatrist claimable through Medicare. If you think that you live with or know someone who may be suffering some or all of these symptoms it may be time to approach them and offer support. Without your approach the outcomes can be fatal. It’s up to all of us. Look out for them all and don’t be afraid to approach them as it could be the difference. We are losing over 3000 lives a year in Australia to suicide. Be part of the change to reduce this loss of life to suicide. We can together SAVE THE SAVEABLE DEPRESSION DOESN’T DISCRIMINATE DDD NS

12.01.2022 As a proud Australian man, a father and a person who never gives up, I find myself more lately dropping pretty low psychologically. It’s something I’ve had to manage for as long as I can remember, sure I’ve done a lot of self work, reflection and at times I’ve been my worst critic. I continue my efforts forward to the ultimate goal and very excited that maybe soon a huge announcement can be made. My goal hasn’t changed my passion only grows and my vision is clearer than eve...r. I know it’s taken a long time and most great things usually do. I’m still here, I’m committed and have not diverted my passion or direction in such a long time. I think maybe my efforts and energy somehow deplete and that’s when I fall. Falling is ok but getting back up after a fall takes some of us all the energy we have. Failing Mental health is something that nearly half of all Aussies will have to deal with at some point in their lives’. My role is to show as many Aussies as possible how to get up after that fall. My life continues to show me my strengths and my weaknesses of which I accept and try to make better. We continue to move out of isolation, loss, and depletion and walk towards the warm light that this time of year brings. A very close mate always said to me, Don’t worry Shep, sometimes you can’t change it, but remember this!!, the sun will rise tomorrow and it’s a brand new day. I’ve never forgotten that and I use it regularly to move past negativity and disappointment. Thanks for reading this far and I hope some of it helped you. 12.01.2022 To assist a person in need and to move them comfortably in THIER right direction is a privilege and an honour. To be given total trust when they are at a vulnerable point and wanting help, advice and support is not ever a chore or something that I would ever consider an every day event. It can be one of the hardest things someone might have to do in their lifetime. It should be made easy, normal and fully supported. Thats where I do my best as a fellow human. Why? I feel t...hat much of my life has been misunderstood by even my closest. Purpose is something that is found once you find............ Fill in the blank in comments, just a little exercise for you to ponder. I do what I do with no regrets or shame. Mistakes made or are they lessons? Stick together so you may not fall apart. 05.01.2022 So if you where a hermit living in the high country youd be cold and unaware of whats about to unfold..... I dont usually hold political stances on this page but unfortunately there comes a time to say something. We all have our own opinions on this whole situation and respect must be shown for these many and varied opinions. As a proud Aussie male I feel completely let down. The people who are meant to do their best to make our country the best place to live in the world... have failed miserably. Unfortunately the whole world is looking at us and thinking this is how NOT to do things. Sure the medical professionals have been our only saviours which includes all nurses, doctors and the like. Theyve had their jobs made much harder because the wrong people have made drastically wrong decisions. These decisions have cost the lives of Aussies just like you and me. When are particular individuals going to be made accountable for their inability to acknowledge their poor judgement and advisory misgivings. Now we have a situation which will undoubtedly cause ramifications that not even the decision makers will be able to comprehend. We shut down an entire economy what do you think will unfold? Contradictions and non clarity in rules or laws or are they rules!!!, no I think theyre laws, Im not sure either!!! The Victorian government are just treading water waiting for a life jacket that was available a long time ago, its since been taken away by the current. This time period which is upon us will see some of the most unbelievable outcomes for hundreds of thousands of Aussies. Predictions of increased suicide, poor mental health and sickness are just the beginning. We are all in this together Yep and we didnt need to be. Im not ignorant to the seriousness of this virus and understand everyone could be at risk at some point. I just feel that its been left too late and our government has failed to look at other countries strategies for getting past the worst of this virus. Good luck and best thoughts to you all. 03.01.2022 Why are we putting so much emphasis on a virus that has killed 109 people in Australia whereas the flu kills over 2000 aussies annually? The real issues still stands!!! as of today approximately 1568 LIVES HAVE BEEN LOST TO SUICIDE. With now two lockdowns in Victoria people will lose their homes, their businesses, their jobs, their marriages and yes you guessed it their lives. Not by a virus that has been portrayed as the mother of all viruses but by their own hand. There is ...no conspiracy regarding this virus rather a total lack of forethought regarding how these decisions are going to impact the real statistics. If suicide rates dont reach an all time high I would be surprised and truly relieved. All this may seem very negative and yes it is for two reasons, one its factual and two, distressing if it happens. Remember Im entitled to have an opinion and portray my thoughts and feelings and you may agree and you may not but I do know that many decisions being made currently will ultimately be the wrong ones. If its lives they want to save they must understand human beings. If were all in this together why dont we all look at the stats and the fallout from panicked decision making. Guys!!! its the same old thing!! How long will it be before you decide that youre leaving us? If you think that its a weakness to speak up for help then you really need to catch up because it takes a real man to admit they need help.... We, as men are not that good at speaking up, why? Speaking up doesnt stop you from being a man, a husband, a father, the pillar in the home, a mate and above all a failure. It makes you strong, loyal, respected, loved, supported and unselfish. Harden the F@$K up is gone people, long gone!!! Its been proven that this old school SH@T kills!! Life is an amazing occurrence, just to make your way to stand on terra firma is a lottery won. Generally woman will put their hand up to ask for or seek support on most occasions. Blokes need to catch up and fast!!! My role is to assist all to speak up but I really want the lads to step up now!!! One life is all we have.
