The concert features percussion instruments from each of the three countries, and there will be a combi...ned performance at the end. The performing groups include the Chinese music group Australia Dunhuang Arts Academy, Japanese drum ensemble Wadaiko Rindo and South Korean Culture Club SORI . Three years on, Su-hos mother Soon-nam has struggled to get past her crushing grief, even though she has a young daughter, Ye-sol, to care for. Shes also struggling financially, having spent most of her money paying for lawyers to defend her husband,... Jung-il, off in Vietnam, in a corporate negligence case. When Jung-il returns to Korea, his presence is less of a comfort to Soon-nam as it is a bitter reminder that Su-ho is gone and that Jung-il was not there to support her in her darkest hours. During World War II in the year 1940, a time where the Korean peninsula is still colonized by the Japanese, the Korean language is at a risk of being forgotten. To dim the national identity, all teachings of the Korean language is banned until ultimately, even its use is banned. A handful of scholars, including Ryu Jeong-hwan, attempt to keep the language alive. In his quest, he comes across Kim Pan-su, an illiterate man who works at the Korean Language Society running errands. Pan-su sees the dedication and passion of the scholars in writing over 16,000 manuscripts to be used in publishing the MalMoE dictionary.
