25.01.2022 Our friends from Kids Academy in Woongarrah have done it again! When Karen visited us just before Christmas I explained that we buy drinking water for the children to refill their water bottles. Because of no rain, drinking water in tanks would not be fit for consumption. The children's health is important to us, so we add this expense into our budget yearly. The staff from Kids Academy decided to use their secret Santa money for staff gifts to buy us nearly 3 weeks worth of water. Such a selfless act and extremely thoughtful. We love our connection to Kids Academy and thank them so much for their kindness.

24.01.2022 A picture speaks a thousand words. Today Educators and children dressed up for book fair. Snow white had the children mesmerized in our reading area today.

24.01.2022 We are proud to support our local community. We recently donated and installed an automatic hand sanitiser at the front door of Kogil Street Pre-School

23.01.2022 Following on from the children’s interest in bugs, insects and living things Jess brought in some tadpoles for the children to observe. The children have been intrigued by the tadpoles; watching them swim around their tanks, commenting on their growth and addition of legs!! The children in Bigiblia have been learning about the life cycle of frogs and are patiently waiting for the tadpoles to finish their transition into frogs

20.01.2022 Yesterday we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's day with a visit from Kirren and Aunty June from Winanga-Li. Aunty June and Kirren showed us how to make johnny cakes which were then cooked on the BBQ. They were so delicious! We also made damper and ate it with pumpkin soup that Adam McCredie grew and donated to us.

17.01.2022 What do you do when it starts to rain? You run around in it and jump in muddy puddles of course! The children were so excited to see this little miracle fall from the sky. You know it's a special thing when the children say to you "that was so much fun!"

16.01.2022 The staff and children surprised Heidi today with a small a farewell party involving lots of hugs, laughs and well wishes, mixed with yummy treats. The children presented Heidi with a wonderful upcycled windchime and a handmade card filled with personalised messages about what the children love about Heidi. Some of those messages - Bonnie: ‘she does dancing with us’. Jacqui: ‘She makes me happy’. Harrison: ‘She always gives me cuddles’. Oskar: ‘she loves my drawing’. Huxson: ‘She teaches us Aboriginal words’. Mackenna: ‘She finds snails with me’. Hunter: ‘She always comforts me’. Emmett: ‘She makes me laugh’. Jason: ‘she always gets us new toys’. As you can tell by the children’s responses, they will miss Heidi greatly, as will the staff, families and wider Kogil Street community.

15.01.2022 For the last couple of weeks, the children have been busy making cards, Easter cards and a beautiful rainbow hand print canvas painting to help brighten the day of the residents of Jessie Hunt Nursing home. Last week we received a thoughtful package of colouring in pages and a beautiful hand made card from the residents. This week we are working on letters to our grandbuddies at Jessie to send messages and pictures. It is so important especially in these times of covid, that we share a connection with our elderly and help to shape our little people into active members of our community who show compassion, empathy and respect. I am told that we have been helping to brighten the residents day and this really makes our hearts smile.

14.01.2022 We will be holding an informal information night tomorrow night. Please RSVP if you would like come along.

13.01.2022 The children made poppies using a couple of different mediums this week, read stories about Anzac Day and tasted delicious Anzac cookies. We may not be honouring our serviceman and women how we normally do, but we will still honour them and remember their bravery, honour, loyalty and commitment. Lest we forget!

12.01.2022 Hello everyone. I have agreed to participate in stars of narrabri where I will dance (in some shape or form haha) to raise money and awareness for cancer. I'm sure that cancer has affected most people in some way or another. This is way out of my comfort zone and ability haha, but I would love it if you would be able to support me to raise as much money as I can by donating via the below link. Every dollar counts. Thank you in advance. Heidi https://stars.cancercouncil.com.au//heid/stars-of-narrabri

12.01.2022 Welcome back! We have been very excited to see all our new and returning families at preschool over the past few days. The staff have done an amazing job at setting the rooms and outside areas up ready for learning and exploration. And we have seen the children reunite with old friends and begin to develop new friendships whilst exploring their new rooms and outside environment. We are all looking forward to another fun filled year of learning through play at Kogil Street Preschool!

09.01.2022 Today we will celebrate Heidi’s last day at Kogil Street after her 4 years of dedication to the Preschool. Heidi has accomplished great things and been the facilitator of many exciting changes during her time at Kogil Street. Through her guidance and passion, the Preschool has transpired into an amazing learning environment where children, families and the community feel welcomed and at home. The Staff and Committee would like to thank Heid for her commitment and passion during her time at Kogil Street Preschool and wish her the best of luck in her new position. Heidi will be greatly missed by all and we look forward to her visiting us in the future to continue to share her knowledge and passion.

07.01.2022 https://www.facebook.com/ParadiseFresh.Narrabri/ Every Tuesday, thanks to a grant from the dept of Education, we receive a fresh fruit delivery from paradise fresh. This initiative which is being funded for 12 months, is a great way to encourage our children to increase their fruit intake and to support healthy options. Children will often try new foods surrounded and encouraged by their peers. The produce that is being delivered is top quality as is the service. For all your fresh fruit and vegetable requirements, try paradise fresh.

06.01.2022 Congratulations to Slade on becoming a FINALIST in the 2020 NSW training awards for TRAINEE OF THE YEAR!. Ranked in the top 13 in the region, Slade has successfully worked her way through the process which has involved written questions and a nerve wracking interview. Slade has worked hard, through many adversities to finish her DIPLOMA of Early Childhood education and Care. Slade is an asset to Kogil Street Preschool having been with us for 2 years now. Slade faces another interview round soon, however you are already a winner in our eyes Slade. Well done.

04.01.2022 Congratulations to Rodger, the winner of our valentine raffle Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket to support our preschool

03.01.2022 Did you know that your child does NOT need to be toilet trained to come to Kogil? Earlier this year we reflected on this "rule" and understand that all children develop at different stages and some children are just not ready by 3. To meet the regulatory requirements we installed a nappy change table and an adult sized sink in our bathroom. Our Educators are here to support you and your child through their toilet training.

01.01.2022 We are super proud of this recognition from Parliament.

01.01.2022 New Mats and resources thanks to Narrabri Local Aboriginal Lands Council. We are so lucky to have an organisation who supports us in cultural inclusion and in providing educational resources to our children. You may also notice new flooring in Bigibila. Thanks to a grant from the Department of Education we were able to replace the flooring in this room. Kerry Stoltenberg and his staff did an amazing job of laying the floors over the weekend.
