25.01.2022 Kuranda Acupuncture views the global situation very seriously. We recognise the risk to the most vulnerable people in our community. Our clinic provides weekly care for the elderly, those with chronic health problems and those in extreme pain. We support countless people through mental health crises and the ongoing management of mental health. We are part of the essential management of many people’s wellness. We are taking increased infection control measures in our clinic. ...Expect our little premises to look quite different for some time. We want to continue to support our community for as long as possible. please help us. -Keep your distance from other patients. -Please wash your hands on arrival and before departure. -Please do not hug or kiss us, we do not wish to offend but we will refuse your affection (but we still love you). -Unless your children are presenting for treatment, please leave them at home. We have removed books and toys from the waiting room. We cannot supervise your children while you are having treatment. - We have placed chairs outside, they are well spaced, let’s all limit our time indoors. -Please BYO water, we have removed the water filter from the waiting room. -Please do not be offended when we limit the number of minutes we spend with you. -If you are coughing, sniffling, feverish WE ARE THE WRONG PLCE FOR YOU- please see our friends next door at Kuranda Medical Centre (and please call them before you present!!). If they clear you, put on mask abs come on over, we will see you. -If you have returned from overseas in the last 14 days, please do not visit our clinic. -If you have had close contact with people who have returned from overseas in the last 14 days please do not visit our clinic. -There may be a longer turn around between appointments than usual, we need to clean door handles and surfaces more regularly. These measures are to increase the likelihood of a strong and well community. We need to be proactive. In the absence of true leadership, we must be part of the solution.

21.01.2022 Acupuncture changes the brain. So does art. And trauma. Find peace where you can. Switch off the TV. Put down the phone. Stitch that joey pouch, make the donation, write that poem, visit an art gallery. ‘Head on’ Adel Abdessemed, GOMA, Brisbane.

20.01.2022 Like everyone, we’ve had a lot to integrate. We’re now ready to take appointments. Acupuncture remains an essential allied health service. Get in touch when you’re ready for treatment.

15.01.2022 We will have online personal appointments very soon. We are building systems, developing protocols and leaning into the wisdom of classical acupuncture. Go gently. 15.01.2022 Picture yourself here. Warm, cosy, and relaxed. Kuranda Acupuncture welcomes you.

11.01.2022 It is not business as usual. Anyone who says otherwise is already on the wrong side of history. Please behave as though the virus is already in your community. It takes practice to be good at distancing, to properly cover coughs and sneezes, to zealously wash our hands. Practice now. Act now. Do not wait.

09.01.2022 Some people schedule appointments with us weekly. Others fortnightly, many see us once a month. It’s a thing. If they feel unwell in between times, we schedule as needed. Wanna make a regular acupuncture date with us?

08.01.2022 Same trees, same sky, new face lines, different times. After a few very sweaty days of shifting, scrubbing and lugging we are officially moved out. Massive thanks to Erin and Leah McBride who worked alongside us, Jeff and Shona for use of their ute, Peter McCabe who lugged stuff and Bob Girling who whizzed around on his mower. Props to Jackson Wooley for saving the day with an extension lead in the last moments. See ya Barang St! We’re going home for a beer and a good lie down. Kuranda Acupuncture will resume as soon as we can.

08.01.2022 A new and exciting direction for Kuranda Acupuncture. I have finally begun a Masters of Social Work with a view to increasing my scope of practice to better serve people with mental health concerns (that’s all of us by the way). I’m taking care of me so I can take better care of you, that means I may not be available at your preferred time. Booking in advance is going to help you to secure a spot. Kellie x

07.01.2022 The best time to quit smoking was forty years ago. Second best time? Today.

01.01.2022 Acupuncture is considered an essential service. We can continue to look after people with our increased infection control measures. Bad backs and depression don’t go away because of a pandemic.
