25.01.2022 IT WILL HAPPEN!!!!!! Labor has followed liberals in committing money for the lights. Great news

23.01.2022 Hi everyone, over the past couple of weeks I have been communicating with all our City of Ballarat Councillors and also with Juliana Addison - Member for Wendouree seeking an update on the Lights Project for Lake Wendouree & Victoria Park. In Summary, The State Government has promised and allocated in their budget the Funding. This funding will be accessed once the final design, public consultation process is completed along with the required Planning Permits.... I've been advised that the design for the Lake Lighting project is nearing completion and will shortly be available for public consultation as part of a planning permit process. This will provide the public and our group the opportunity to view the DRAFT plans. During this process it is vital that we ALL participate and provide feedback and continual support for this project. Following the consultation process, a formal planning application will be submitted for both Council and Heritage Victoria approval. I personally am very excited that things are moving forward and will deliver we we have passionately been pursuing for the past 4 years.

22.01.2022 We’ve done it. We’ve finally got a commitment for LAKE WENDOUREE LIGHTING! The Liberals, (Amy Johnson & Matthew Guy), will provide $1.7 million for Lake Lighting, if you elected in November. Timed Lighting... Heritage Style Lighting Lights Around 6KM Track Improved Safety We call on the Labor state government to make the same commitment, as to date they’ve been silent on the issue. Andrew Kilmartin - Liberal for Buninyong has also pushed hard for this.

21.01.2022 Why does this just keep going on and on ? I’m starting to feel like the poor cousins in England with their BREXIT dilemma which is still dragging on 3 years after the referendum! The community has spoken very loudly in making this it’s No 1 priority for the Lake Wendouree precinct. 1 We have the State Government funding in this years budget When will this project get started?

20.01.2022 Hometown Olympian Steve Moneghetti says the track in his name is fast becoming a bigger issue for people wanting to move in colder, darker months.

18.01.2022 What a GREAT week! Our hard work has paid off and we have an election commitment to fund lighting for Lake Wendouree. Yesterday, Amy Johnson and Matthew Guy announced a $1.7 million commitment for lake lighting. ... Olympic legends Ray Borner and Steve Moneghetti were there to hear about the announcement, both of whom are long time supporters of the lights. We're waiting to hear whether Labor will match this commitment, as they've been silent on the issue to date. https://www.thecourier.com.au//opposition-leader-matthew-/

18.01.2022 STAUNCH supporters for lighting up the Lake Wendouree track say this dark time of year highlights exactly why the project should be a high-priority for the state government. A lake users group, including City of Ballarat councillor Amy Johnson, is calling for the Labor government to follow through on a $2.5 million promise for lights and make it clear in next week's state budget. Cr Johnson said there had been strong community demand for more than decade on the proje...ct. The Liberal Party, of which Cr Johnson was a candidate for the seat of Wendouree, initially pledged $1.7 million for the project and with the guarantee of this being in the next budget should they have won government last year. "It's time for the project to be completed," Cr Johnson said. "This is certainly a project with a high degree of community support. There was a lot of excitement when funding was announced - people expect it would be funded within the first year because it is so needed. The lake is the most highly used recreational asset within the City of Ballarat. People run morning and evening around the lake all year but this will help encourage more people to use the lake year round Cr Johnson said. The project started to gain traction when voted top priority for City of Ballarat's Lake Wendouree master plan, which councillors adopted in November 2017. More than 80 per cent of Ballarat residents supported the concept. Labor's pledge will create a 10-kilometre lit circuit. City of Ballarat has made clear lighting will be in limited periods early in the morning and evening for greater safety and improved vision for those running, cycling, walking and rowing about the lake, particularly in winter. Plans take into consideration minimal wildlife impact. Olympian Steve Moneghetti has long championed the project and has said lighting could also highlight potential for greater lakeside events, like twilight markets. https://www.thecourier.com.au//hey-premier-light-us-up-ne/

12.01.2022 Hi everyone, attached is the proposed lighting design for the greater part of the Steve Moneghetti Track. Around the Heritage Area of the Botanical Gardens other lighting design is being considered to fit with the look and feel of the precinct. This has been a very long journey. I would like to acknowledge all the hard work by the City of Ballarat staff and councillors, plus the State Government for funding support to make the project a reality. So much time and effort goes on behind the scenes to make projects like this one a reality. As supporters of this page please take the 5 minutes to register your feedback and comments.

11.01.2022 During the state election, Labor promised us lights around Lake Wendouree. Six months since the election and we haven’t heard a peep about this project Is it still happening?

09.01.2022 Why does this just keep going on and on ? I’m starting to feel like the poor cousins in England with their BREXIT dilemma which is still dragging on 3 years after the referendum! The community has spoken very loudly in making this it’s No 1 priority for the Lake Wendouree precinct. 1 We have the State Government funding in this years budget When will this project get started?

09.01.2022 Plenty of money spent on lights for smaller groups. No money for lights for the most used space.

09.01.2022 Why do you think we need lighting around Lake Wendouree? Amy Johnson continues to push for the installation of timed lighting around the lake. We'd love to hear your reasons as to why you think its important.

01.01.2022 Once again our Project is nowhere to be seen! How is it that we have Government Funding allocated over 18 months ago, and we are still in the dark as to when this project will start. A project that benefits every person in the community and beyond (Tourists).
