25.01.2022 We wish all our families a safe and happy holiday period. We look forward to seeing you in 2021 . Our office will close at 3pm today (Wednesday) and re-opens on Monday 18th January. School resumes for students on Wednesday 27th January.

24.01.2022 HONOUR PROGRAM Our Year 6 boys are currently participating in a program called HONOUR, led by our school Chappy Linda. Honour is a 7 week lunch time program that focuses on our worth and value, our inner strength and our potential and hopes for the future. We are fortunate to have Officer Spencer Green assisting Chappy with some of the sessions, as well as our Guidance Officer, Andrew Graham. The last 2 weeks have focused on taking care of ourselves (personal hygiene and recognising our uniqueness) and the sessions finished off with how to care for a car. The boys are also learning how to tie a neck tie which they are finding very enjoyable and proud of when they achieve it. The next 2 weeks will focus on strength.

24.01.2022 RED NOSE DAY FUNDRAISER Thank you to LSS student council who organised today’s Red Nose Day fundraiser. So far we have raised $402.00 towards research into SIDS, with more donations still coming in. It has been wonderful to see all the ‘red noses’ and ‘silly dress’. A huge thank you to our school community for your support!

21.01.2022 TUCKSHOP Landsborough State School P&C are considering re-opening the tuckshop weekly on a Friday morning. For this to work, we are seeking volunteers to assist on a Friday morning, from 8am to approximately 11.30am. Please check your emails for further information and let us know if you are able to assist.

21.01.2022 YEAR 4 CAMP Our Year 4 students are heading off on camp next week 10-11 September. If you have a child who requires medication whilst on camp, please collect a Request to Administer medication form from our school office as soon as possible. This form needs to be completed before staff are permitted to administer medications.

20.01.2022 P&C MEETING Our P&C will be meeting this Wednesday 11th November at 5.30pm in the HIVE. This is our last meeting for 2020. All welcome to attend.

18.01.2022 AIR CONDITIONING OF SCHOOL We are excited to advise that our whole school will be air-conditioned very soon. Work will commence late August and installation will take place over the September school holidays. A huge thank you to our P&C who started the air-conditioning project a few years ago. The remaining classrooms will now be completed as part of the Qld Government’s Cooler Cleaner Schools Program. We all look forward to more comfortable teaching and learning environments for our students, teachers and school community.

16.01.2022 We have had a beautiful start to the year in Prep. Our Preppies are settling in quickly, learning new routines and having a load of fun! We’ve started working on writing our names, listening to stories and talking about our likes and dislikes, sorting items, counting and identifying numbers. We have had a great time during Fun Friday, doing collage, playing with the blocks and the dolls’ house and dressing up. It is a huge change for these little people and they are doing wonderfully. They have been forming special friendships both in the playground and in the classroom. We are all looking forward to a fabulous year together!

12.01.2022 FESTIVAL OF TREES We are one of the local schools participating in the ‘Festival of Trees’. A Christmas tree has been delivered to our school, ready for us to decorate. Once complete, the tree will be displayed at a local business in the Landsborough Community. We are putting the call out to our school families, asking them to create HANDMADE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS for the tree. This is an activity that students/families can complete at home if they wish to be involved. We are asking for decorations to be made in traditional Christmas colours (red, green, gold, silver and white). Please note that all decorations will need to be dropped off at our admin office by Monday 16th November.

09.01.2022 FESTIVAL OF TREES Thank you to all LSS families, classes and Helping Hands who provided handmade Christmas decorations for our tree. The tree is now on display at the Steaming Cup in Landsborough to bring XMAS cheer to the local community. Thanks to Dumi from the Steaming Cup for allowing us to display our tree in his store. Make sure that you go and check it out and grab a coffee at the same time!

In recognition of the outstanding efforts of school staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two days of the school year, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, have been declared student free days. 06.01.2022 SWIMMING CARNIVAL Today our Year 3 to 6 students swapped their classroom for the swimming pool as they competed in our annual Swimming Carnival. The day included a mixture of competitive races, along with some novelty events. Congratulations to Flinders House who were the overall winners and well done to all students who particpated.

03.01.2022 PHOTO CATCH UP DAY A reminder that tomorrow (Wed 26th August) is photo catch up day. The school photographer will be onsite from 8-9am to photograph any students who were absent last Monday 17th August. We ask that Year 6 students wear their Senior Shirts as a Year 6 group photo will be taken at 9am.
