13.01.2022 2020 has been a whirlwind. From health to finances, work/business to family. It was tough. I hope this year has shown how resilient you actually are because... WE SURVIVED 2020... If no one has told you yet, you’ve done an amazing job this year! We pulled off the unthinkable. So let’s just to take a moment to reflect our highs and lows for the year and be grateful - that everything happens for a reason. It happens for us not to us. Despite most of us had to shut our studios and salons for months, we pushed through. Some of my students were at their lowest after being retrenched from their 9-5. Instead, they came to us to start a new career or to upskill in the beauty industry. And they have done incredibly well, some even expanded their beauty business. I wanted to say a massive thank you for all those that have supported us at Lash Sublime, Brow Henna Australia, and Perth Hair and Beauty Expo. We are so grateful for you! But if they leave with an irritated eye, or their natural lashes fall off after a few days, they will probably not return. (and hope they won’t leave a bad review) At Lash Sublime, we train our students to not only be equipped with skills to safely handle the client, but also with the utmost care for them.... If you haven’t signed up for our Lash Academy, or if you are one of my new students that needs a reminder Here are a few tips to keep your clients happy with a positive experience! First off - We always assess the natural lashes of the client. Its thickness will help us determine which kinds of extension will be suitable to apply We say NO to stickies! We always check every single lash after the application. This is to ensure that there are no clumps looked over, and that there is only one extension (or one fan) per natural lash. Client comfort is always #1 Check for client’s comfort at least twice throughout the application. Make sure their eyes remain closed all the time, to avoid any eye irritation. You may use a dental mirror to check regularly, especially if using taping methods on the eyelids. How do you keep your clients safe and happy while lashing? 08.01.2022 Dealing with cancellations and no-shows is like being stood up on a datebut at your own expense, literally. Think about it: You spend so much energy, time, and money running ads to get new clients. You get your hopes up, only to get it crushed when a client cancels last minute or worse, they don’t show up! I’ve heard all sorts of horror stories, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking. ... The worst part is, it could have been avoidable if only you were taught to create better systems So here are my top 4 strategies to help you minimise no-shows! Re-book client after every appointment. Keep in mindyour clients are busy individuals, too. Educate them about lash care and refills, and right after the service, ask in person to book their next appointment. TIP: Ask if they’d like to come at same time and day, or give them 2 days followed by asking if they’d prefer the morning or afternoon (this helps to prevent decision fatigue). Send appointment reminders. In their booking confirmation link, there should be an option to add the appointment to their calendar. Additionally, sending an automated e-mail and SMS one or two days in advance can save both of you the hassle. If there’s no response, call them to accommodate changes, if any. Require a non refundable deposit. Set a non-refundable deposit to secure their spot, and any appointment must be rebooked within 48 hours. Doing so will make them respect your time and think again before changing their appointment (and maybe rethink that wild night out before their morning appointment). Set clear policies. Make sure your clients are aware of your policies, and the consequences that come if they break them. For example, they won’t be allowed to rebook in your system after two consecutive no-shows. And there you have it! By following these tips, you can minimise the impact of these stressful situationsand even turn them into a profitable one. Have YOU experienced no-shows lately? Whether you’ve been in the lash industry or are just starting out, make sure to observe these three important checks when lashing: Maintain proper humidity level... Some treatments require products with chemical ingredients, like eyelash adhesive, which reacts to moisturetoo much often results in faster drying time than usual. Every adhesive has its own perfect humidity range - not every adhesive likes 45-65%, so test which range is best for your adhesive! Pro-Tip: Use a hygrometer check to room temperature and humidity. No stickies! At Lash Sublime, we have zero tolerance on stickiesthey are extremely damaging to your natural lashes. Check vertically and horizontally every lash at completion. There should only be one extension (or one fan) per extension Pro-Tip: If your a newbie leave 1-2 mm from lash line, for experienced volume artist leave 0.05mm, and for master artist 0.03mm Ensure client’s comfort Getting lashes done should be an enjoyable experience for your client.
