24.01.2022 Time to start thinking about permits

21.01.2022 The weather at this time of the year is fickle. One day the weather can be perfect for burning and a couple of days later it's warmer and the wind picks up, ca...using those burns to escape. TFS has seen an increase in escaped burns on private property over the last couple of weeks. We encourage property owners to use favourable weather conditions to burn and reduce fuels to mitigate their bushfire risk, but this must be done safely . If you're planning to burn on your property you must be adequately prepared for the size of the burn and for the weather conditions you are burning in. You should also keep checking it in the days after it's been extinguished.

19.01.2022 The paddocks are green but the bush is drying out...quick! With Temps in the high 20s/low 30s we are seeing an increase in fires. Please make sure you register your burns and that they are safe to light. Check the BOM website for the day your lighting and the week ahead. Yesterday we saw this fire at ADVICE level

17.01.2022 Currently we are completing a hazard reduction burn in the Meehan range off Acton Drive that’s creating some smoke, just a reminder to register your burn so we don’t get called out unnecessarily

11.01.2022 Tasmania Fire Service requests that landholders avoid lighting fires on their properties for at least the next 24 hours due to forecast severe weather condition...s. Fires in these windy conditions will be difficult to control. Fires that have been lit in the past fortnight should be patrolled as the wind increases, even if they are believed to be extinguished.

11.01.2022 Now is the time to maintain your grass levels not in a months time on a hot day. Due to good and plenty of recent we have a high a rate of growth for our fine fuels. Plenty of fires start on hot days with people slashing or mowing grass, be careful as a hot machine and 1 spark can start a fast running grass fire

11.01.2022 That time of the year again people

10.01.2022 Update the moggieis down and safe

08.01.2022 Last summer's bush fires taught us some terrifying lessons about the importance of being prepared and having a plan. Learn from the experience of others this bush fire season.

07.01.2022 The smoke visible across Greater Hobart at the moment is from a fuel reduction burn being conducted at Dulcot. This is likely to be burning for the next 1 - 2 days. People with medical conditions are asked to have a personal plan in place. 04.01.2022 Don’t be alarmed we are currently in the process of a cat rescue , the naughty feline has managed to get himself 10 metres up a tree. Due to safety concerns and the height we have a hydraulic platform on scene to carry out the height rescue.

03.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more
