06.01.2022 Citrus Tree & Rose Pruning Tips for Winter Late August and Early September is a good time to prune roses that repeat-flower over spring and summer. If they only bloom once a year, do it after flowering. Remove dead, damaged and diseased wood. Remove any inward growing stems and shorten the long ones. Put some good rose fertiliser down and a layer of mulch around the base of the plants. Citrus trees can also be pruned to keep them neat and tidy and reduce in size if needed. Pruning now will help produce a good crop of fruit to enjoy in due season.
