22.01.2022 Eggstra Fun! Have fun with plastic eggs. In our OT sessions this week we used them for multiple purposes. We matched the coloured halves to the cards ... We created bunnies and chicks using pom poms and pipe cleaners. We created eggstra special eggs filled with messages of kindness and gratitude or positive affirmations. We hid exercises in the eggs to complete and use in our obstacle courses. We hid letters inside to have to spell words or practise letters for handwriting. We hid numbers in eggs and worked on our numeracy. We played find the chick having to open and shut the eggs until the chicken was found. WE hid social scenarios in the eggs to discuss and role play with. So many uses you can come up with to work on learning and development with your child in a fun and engaging way. Such skills include hand strengthening, finger manipulation, coordination, strengthening, gross motor skills, copying from a model, visual perception skills, growth mindset and social cognition. The more fun it is the more likely they are to participate. Use these ideas or come up with your own this easter long weekend.

06.01.2022 Thanks for joining in and helping us to count down the days before Christmas. Have an elf-athon today and see if you can remember all the elf-ercises from the past 12 days. Don’t forget to go to bed early tonight so you can enjoy all the fun of tomorrow! Happy Christmas Eve.

03.01.2022 Why is the Easter Bunny always so organised and productive? Because he hops everywherethe movement of his head (vestibular input) helps to keep him calm-alert. It is one of the best exercises to do.moving our head up and down in a steady rhythmical movement gives our brain and body the sensory input that it needs to support self-regulation. This type of motion often has a longer lasting effect so encourage lots of bunny hops today. A very hippity hoppity Easter to everyone. It’s the one day of the year where we have an excuse to eat chocolate for breakfast, so enjoy! May you enjoy the time with friends and family.

03.01.2022 Count down with us for 12 Days of Christmas! Make sure you're liking this page to follow our elf OT poses over the next 12 days leading up to Christmas... Here's Day 11! Fun for the whole family to do! If you have your own elf on the shelf you might want to position your elf like ours. Encourage your child to participate in the daily elf-ercise and get them to repeat the exercises from the days before testing their memory and engaging them in this activity to support a ...calm-alert state. Repeating the exercises regularly throughout the day gives your child sensory input to support increased attention and focus.

01.01.2022 Happy Good FriYAY!! Every Friday is a good Friday in our opinion.a chance to recover from the busy week, for children to have some downtime from the school day, a chance to spend quality time with family and friends or to do something different. Today is collectively named GOOD FRIDAY around the world. This may have different meaning to each of you. A family tradition for me and my family is to spend time together making home made hot cross buns. Over the years we have ad...apted our recipe from traditional to choc chip and apple and cinnamon, We make the cross with melted white chocolate for an extra chocolate fix. This activity is a great sensory experience for our eyes, nose, mouth, hands and musclesthat kneading uses lots of heavy muscle work. It incorporates lots of social learning, needing to follow the group plan and work as a WE thinker, doing the expected behaviours and having self-control not to lick your fingers, motor planning to follow the steps of the recipe and so much more. If you make your own hot cross buns at home share your photos with us. We’d love to see them.
