24.01.2022 LEISURECOM LAUNCHES ONLINE TRAVEL SERIES LeisureCom Travel Group has launched a new and exciting online travel series for it's leading membership based travel brand Hightide Holidays. 'Hightide Travel TV' will feature short online episodes targeting existing Hightide members and potential new members using social media platforms including Facebook and YouTube.... The series will showcase destination based content along with accommodation, activities, dining, tours and attractions and benefits associated with the membership program. LeisureCom Director of Member Services, Jon Tarrant say's the program is designed to provide an interactive component to the Hightide brand and to better engage it's members. "We have a very loyal and long-standing database of members who want to feel more connected with the brand and this is one of the ways we'd like to engage with them" he said. He added that while the program will initially air as an online web-series, there are already plans to produce a free-to-air television series for the brand. "We have had discussions with the production company about the potential for a full length television program, which will further strengthen our brand and will assist our property partners and members" The Hightide Travel TV online series began in January 2014 and has featured destinations including Surfers Paradise, Casuarina Beach and Melbourne. 10.01.2022 RIDE FOR KEITH FUNDRAISER Keith Nicholls had spent the past 6 years travelling throughout Australia, with much of his time staying at his beloved Wuruma Dam..., near Monto. In August 2015 Keith was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer. He immediately received comprehensive treatment in Brisbane at the Mater Hospital and the initial results were positive. However, follow up scans in December 2015 showed the cancer had returned as secondary tumours in his abdomen. After his second diagnosis, Keith returned to his travelling, using Wuruma Dam and Monto as a base. As Keith’s cancer has progressed he entered the palliative care unit of the Monto Hospital and stayed there for 4 weeks in April 2016. The care that he was given during this time was exceptional and Keith was very appreciative of the hospital, the staff and treatment he received. Keith was so touched by the care that he received, he set about working out ways he could give back to the hospital and local community. It was Keith’s goal to conduct some fundraising for the Hospital Auxiliary, allowing him to ‘give something back’ to the community that helped him. Therefore, this September, Keith’s sons are organising a cycle fundraiser, going from Southport Broadwater Parklands to Monto hospital from Thursday September 29th Sunday October 2nd - 620km over 4 days. Their goal is to raise $20,000 to buy a new state of the art VersaCare bed for high needs and palliative patients. So far the ride has 14 participants and a huge support crew that will be passing through many of the small towns between Southport and Monto over the 4-day period. They are looking for donations, support in the form of accommodation or meals and anything else you can do to help. For the last weeks of my amazing Dad’s life he was living in the palliative care ward of the Monto hospital. It was perfect for him. Truly incredible staff, beautiful grounds and awesome care. They looked after Dad like a king with dignity right to the end. It is for this reason, that we want to give back and we hope this event will help us do it.
