24.01.2022 HOLIDAY SEASON With Christmas Holidays fast approaching, St George Police would like to share some Holiday Crime Prevention tips:... Be careful of Holiday scams. Do not give out any personal information such as your credit card details and do not open emails or click links from people you do not know Consider using a messaging app or creating an email address for the sale/purchase. Always look for reputable sites and dealers with proven sales history Consider picking up your parcels from the post office; safety deposit boxes; or click and collect facilities; if that is not convenient than have parcels delivered to where someone is at home or waiting When parcels are delivered to unit complexes, not to have them left in public foyers or externally. Obtain tracking number of the parcel or sign in to receive notification when the parcel is due to be delivered. Ensure the parcel is collected in person by either yourself or a trusted person on your behalf. If you are meeting a buyer or seller, meet them in public. Ensure that place is populated and during daylight hours. Never meet someone you don’t know by yourself. Bring a friend or family member with you. When out shopping or running errands, be extra careful with purses and wallets. Carry a purse under your arm. Keep a wallet in an inside jacket pocket, not a back trouser pocket. Do not leave purses or handbags unattended in a shopping trolley. Do not display your Christmas gifts near window so that they are easily visible from outside of the house. Take a walk around outside to see if valuables are visible through windows Avoid sharing too much information on social media about your movements or what you got from Santa After Christmas Day, do not pile up bulky gift boxes in your recycling bin for a passer-by to see. Break the boxes down or cut them up to better conceal the items
