25.01.2022 As a service to the wider archery community, here’s the 3DAAA calendar for 2021. I know many people who have liked this page will be competing, as will several of our club members.

23.01.2022 With many of us drawing our bows soon for the first time in a long time, this Instagram post from Archery strong might be something to consider. https://www.instagram.com/p/CG-RO4cFWWl/

20.01.2022 Currently members only and maintaining COVID safety on the grounds. Hopefully soon we can welcome everyone back to our great sport. . . .... . #lilydalebowmen #archeryvictoria #archeryaustralia #australianarchery #fieldarchery #archeryclubs #aba #australianbowhuntersassociation #ifaa #3daaa #tradarchery #traditionalarchery

20.01.2022 First big Victorian shoot since March, I think. Some did their club proud, such as Jazz ‘I beat my Dad’ McDonald and Tony ‘400’ Brezic. Bottom of the performances was myself with a memorable Saturday arvo sulk. All seemed pleased with their efforts and deserve to feel so.

17.01.2022 World Archery asks.... Is field archery the answer for a post-pandemic competition fix? Well we think it was great before but as they surmise "Field archery inherently promotes social distancing". The article looks at a competition earlier this year in the UK which took its inspiration from golf. Each group of four archers was pre-selected and given a set time to start their first target, similar to a tee time in golf. ... We already run groups of four here in ABA so it would be pretty easy to implement this! https://worldarchery.org//field-archery-answer-post-pandem

15.01.2022 Updated branch calendar, February and July have windows for an Interclub shoot. Contact branch via your club representative if you are interested in hosting.

14.01.2022 Looking forward to when we can all simply do what we love to do...together again

13.01.2022 Branch G calendar for those with an interest. So many possibilities this year between Branches G and H.

08.01.2022 We are taking the first big step to get back in the game. The Branch G website says they have 49 signed up (as of this posting), but they are allowed to have 60 taking part. Come on people, let’s ensure they have a full house for this event. They are a club and Branch worth supporting and only a day trip for many of us. ... Hope to catch up with a few of you there

04.01.2022 With restrictions easing and life starting to return to normal I thought I would take the opportunity to update you all on where things stand. The Branch Execu...tive are targeting the March - 3 day shoot at Mount Clay as our first shoot of the year. The main reason for this is that there is a lot camping room at the Heywood grounds which allows everyone to spread out and there are excellent shower and toilet facilities. We have a shoot scheduled at Ballarat in February and we discussed whether this should be the first shoot for 2021 however there are a number of potential issues. With Christmas and New Year celebrations there is going to be a lot of social undistancing and this will most likely lead to a few more Covid cases popping up. I don’t believe that we will have a 3rd wave but I do believe that even a small rise in cases may bring about a re-introduction of some restrictions. The Ballarat grounds are very tight for camping space and their courses make it difficult to maintain social distancing of large numbers should these restrictions come back into play. This will make it hard to plan with any certainty for the shoot to go ahead. Ballarat have also spoken to the Field and Game Association, who are responsible for the grounds and they are also concerned with the February shoot going ahead. With all of this in mind I think it would be better to allow the dust to settle from Christmas and focus on March for the first shoot. This means that there is a spot available in the calendar should any club want to host and I would consider this if it was viable, particularly if it was in a modified format; i.e. a one-day shoot. Stawell have also indicated that they will not be able to host their mid-year shoot which leaves another slot available if any club take up the opportunity. Any clubs wishing to take up the options contact myself or Al (Branch Secretary). Hopefully we are coming to the end of the Covid madness and will return to normal soon. With everything starting to ramp up I strongly advise all clubs to continue to follow Government policy and regulations as well as ABA recommendations. Maintain and review your Covid Safe Plans regularly to ensure that they are up to date and most importantly have a safe and happy festive season. I look forward to catching up with you all in the New Year. Cheers Steve Old

04.01.2022 We recently had a question from a lady as to whether our club accepted women? Well let me clear that up right now YES ALL FEMALES ARE WELCOME. We have quite a few female members and they are active in all aspects of the sport from casual shooters to competition shooters to bowhunters. We embrace all archers and are thrilled to have so many women in the club - in fact I am one of newer female club members having been recruited by hubby to share his favourite pastime with him. ...So there is a good chance you will run into me or one of several other of our female members who frequent the club grounds. If you are interested in learning more about the sport and our club we will be opening in the new year to new members. Keep your eye on this page and we will announce as soon as are open for visitors. Just for fun here's a photo from a club shoot last year of some of the girls According to "completeguidetoarchery.com" 1/3 or the worlds active archers are women... https://www.completeguidetoarchery.com/if-i-go-to-the-ran/.
