16.01.2022 A very successful day was held on Saturday 16th November at the LIONS ROSE SHOW. A great display of roses and other associated items made for a very colourful and interesting display. Along with a constant stream of visitors many of whom stayed for a delicious lunch organised by the Lions ladies and funds raised to go back into the community through various Lions projects made a truly wonderful day. 15.01.2022 In August we supported another budding local champion, Georgia Pyke, to compete in the U/15 School Sports Australia Netball Nationals in QLD. Here is Georgias account of her trip sent to the club... Dear Lions Club Sorell, Hi, my name is Georgia Pyke. Im from Sorell and I have recently just gone to Caloundra, Queensland to compete in the u/15 School Sports Australia Netball Nationals to represent Tasmania against seven other states around Australia NT, WA, QLD, SA, ACT, VI...C AND NSW with 11 other girls from around Tasmania. We arrived on the Saturday to Brisbane and drove to Caloundra. We had a light training run when we got there so we were ready on Sunday for the competition to start. We played 2 games each day one in the morning and one in the afternoon until Wednesday then finals started on Thursday and Friday. I really enjoyed this experience just the intensity and how hard you had to work against the toughest competition in Australia was an amazing experience. We managed to win two games one against NT then one in finals against ACT this game was playing for sixth and seventh position so we then finished sixth position. Our wins were really important to us not just because we won but also we made history for Tasmania as the hadnt finished higher than 8th or won a game for 3 years in netball so, we were really happy with our efforts. Over all I loved representing Tasmania and I would do it again if I am privileged to be chosen again. I would like to thank everyone who helped me out on getting there for the amazing experience, your willingness to help me will always be appreciated. Thank you, Georgia Pyke

11.01.2022 In July we supported Amy Emand from Sorell to attend the U15 Youth AFL carnival. Amy was a team member of the Tassie side playing interstate teams in Launceston in early August.Unfortunately, she damaged a ligament in her club game prior to the carnival. But Amy pressed on regardless and played, which is to her credit and commitment in following her dream of playing AFL. It was terrific to hear Amys report of her exploits during and after the Carnival and we wish her every success in the future. The accompanying photos show Amy before the Carnival; Lions Secretary John Salmon presenting Amy with her cheque and Amy proudly displaying her Tassie jumper!

11.01.2022 Great night at Sorell RSL for Dinner and viewing of the photographic exhibition "Windows on War" looking at the Australian home-front during WWI. Thanks also, to the RSL and caterer Cherie Featherstone who provided a wonderful meal. P.S. The waiters werent too bad either! Thanks to one and all. If you have the opportunity, call into the RSL and view the Exhibition during September...
