So we know you all flock to the same spot every time you come into train but guess what this means?! You always only train with and next to the same people which is not conducive for a thriving cross section community! So this month, we encourage you to buddy up with someone different in a different part ...of the gym! Crazy we know! There are so many benefits to getting away from your usual crew to train with someone different! A true community is one where different women of different ages, abilities, backgrounds and beliefs can all know, appreciate and respect each other! 19.01.2022 Last class for 2020 If someone had told you on January 1st of 2020, what would unfold over the course of the next 12 months, would any of us have believed them? Not a chance. ... We were not prepared for the closing down of our two sites for 4 months. We couldn’t have imagined being under lockdown for months on end. We couldn’t have anticipated our local businesses, cafes, restaurants, bars and more would be closed and some to never reopen again. We could not imagine the overwhelming grief, loneliness and isolation we would each experience when daily contact with our community was prohibited. What we have learned is that nothing can replace the value of human connection. It is vital for our overall wellbeing, health and happiness. We have learned that we all play a part in our ever evolving communities and that our individual contribution is significant. Our motto has always been that we are Stronger Together, and this year proved that this is infinitely true. Who knows what 2021 has in store for us? Some predict it will be better and we have left the craziness of 2020 behind. Some disagree. All we do know, is that by creating a community that stands in love and support of one another, despite our differences, opinions and beliefs, where women strive to better understand, accept and celebrate each other, we can not be broken. We will not allow the uncertainty, fear and control of 2020, follow us into 2021. The way that we do this, is by becoming more intentional with how we lead ourselves and each other. Leading ourselves with love over fear. So in 2021, when times get tough, remind yourself that you always have a choice. Instead of FEAR Choose love, trust, calm and courage Instead of CONTROL Choose freedom, strength, knowledge and understanding Instead of ISOLATION Choose continuity, togetherness, community and connection We have the power. I've felt my mindset slipping over the last few weeks since being sick and unable to move consistently...... So I made it a priority to move - albeit slowly and gently this week. 15.01.2022 Control the controllable One thing that I CAN control is my actions; what I choose to do with my time For that reason, I choose to train. ... I choose to train when I want to, even when I don’t want to. It’s more often than not that bed seems like the more comfortable option when 6/7 mornings start at 4 or 5am. But, I know I aways feel so much better when I choose the less comfortable one. I choose to sweat and move my body daily because it makes me feel good and is my investment in my health and future self. No one else can do this for me. That is my power and my privilege. I ‘get’ to train and take care of my body. Training is self care, it’s a life force. It gives me energy and I am a more vital, productive, responsive, and resilient version of myself when I do While I have health and am able, I will train. Too many people are unwilling to stick at something for one year let alone several years! Did you know the average membership at a gym is 6 months?! So many of yo...u admire, respect and are in awe of members who can lift heavy, do awesome skills and are super fit! What you fail to recognise is that most, if not all of these women have been members of our gym for at least a year if not 3 or 4 years!!!! That’s a decent stint! Turning up 5-6 days per week, consistently for year upon year upon year!!! What will you commit to in 2021!? Consistency? Long term commitment? Making small tiny positive changes daily? Many of you want the end result tomorrow. But you don’t want to do the work day in day out even on the bad days. Next time you see someone you admire, ask them this question: How long have you been at this and what has it taken to get here? And then, maybe then you’ll really understand the grind. We all know that feeling of coming to this place for the first time, as an absolute beginner and having absolutely no idea what to expect, who we might come across and how we might be treated. Will we be judged for not being fit enough, strong enough, fast enough? Will we not have anyone to talk to? What will they make me do ...and what if I can’t do it? Many of you that aren’t yet a part of our community assume that all of our members have always been fit, always been able and always been capable. YOU ARE WRONG Every single one of our members stepped into this place months ago, a year ago, multiple years ago, and was in exactly the same place as you. Fearful. Nervous. Unknowing. The only difference is they overcame their doubts and fears to take that first step. Once they do that, the rest is easy. We are here to help. We are here to support. We are here to guide you.
