24.01.2022 It's been such a strange year, with the pandemic having shadowed a lot of the year, in changing the way we act, how we communicate and so on. But, with it drawing to a close in South Australia we also need to remember our littlest people have also been affected. Many of them now face the new challenge of heading to school. This unfamiliar environment will be one where we want our children to thrive, so how can we do this in the current lifestyle that COVID-19 had thrust upon us? Check out the link below... https://www.abc.net.au//school-readiness-during-/12679484

18.01.2022 The beginning of December means the 'putting up of tree' here at Little Kindy. Many hands made quick work of the assembly before we began putting on some of the ornaments. With a little bit of Christmas music in the background, our young Christmas Kids had a lightly decorated tree complete with lights. We were proud of our efforts, but this is just the beginning. We want our tree and the centre to be decorated with more child made decorations. Keep following the post for additions and examples of our work. Merry Christmas

15.01.2022 From the moment a baby is born, from that very first cry, the urge to communicate is a biological imperative. As human beings, we simply must make our wishes, thoughts, feelings and needs understood by the people around us. At first this is primarily about survival making sure we are fed and kept warm. But communicating through language is also part of what being human is all about. The ability to use symbolic forms of expression (letters, words, numbers, symbols) is what s...eparates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. It enables the complex patterns of thought that have led to great literature, to vital scientific discoveries, and to amazing technological advances. Pre-writing skills are the fundamental skills children need to develop before they are able to write. These skills contribute to the child's ability to hold and use a pencil, and the ability to draw, write, copy, and colour. Developmental stages of writing: drawing, scribbling, letter like symbols, strings in letter, beginning sounds emerge, consonants represent words, initial, middle and final sounds, And finally... transitional and standard spelling.

14.01.2022 Wishing our Little Kindy Dover Gardens families a safe and enjoyable Easter weekend!

12.01.2022 Welcome to Reinhard's Library. It's a book borrowing service like those of our local libraries or schools. The process here is pretty simple, you and your child choose a book from our small selection to read at home together. We do have a few house keeping rules that you can read through when you come into the centre next. But you can support us by sending some pictures of your child engaged with the book or reading with you to or storypark app or via email. You are also wel...come to add some books to the collection! We will try to change our books over regularly to keep our resources fresh. If there is a particular book your child has been talking about, please let us know and we can add it to the next cycle. ... This idea was bought to you by Reinhard Egessa. See more

09.01.2022 By listening to children's ideas and opinions, we can help them develop their sense of autonomy. Respecting the opinions of our little ones demonstrates to them that they do matter have input on the world around them. It also helps them understand that adults recognise and respect their abilities.

08.01.2022 Cooking encourages children's thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It also allows children the opportunity to use the knowledge they have and apply it by counting, measuring, following a sequence, following directions, and cause and effect. We love that our children here at Little Kindy Dover Gardens have the opportunity to cook with us each day. It also helps them feel like they can take ownership over another part of their daily routines. In this picture we have our children making mixed berry muffins, today we made pizzas and tomorrow who knows?

05.01.2022 It's these moments that melt your heart... Early learning centres provide a platform for social interaction and engagement. They are a place where friendships being and flourish.

03.01.2022 The Nursery Room is open. A tranquil and intimate space for our youngest of the Little Kindy Dover Gardens community. With room to roll and resources to stimulate the babies will enjoy their own nook to retreat.

02.01.2022 Our Toddler Room is focusing on sensory exploration this term. Yesterday Patty did a taste experiment with flour, sugar, salt and limes. We had some interesting facial reactions. Today our toddlers will be combining touch with smells as Roberto makes playdough with peppermint, vanilla and cinnamon. Roberto is also making a sensory log with different textures on top, colour sand, artificial grass, cotton buds, sandpaper and so on. Lily has exposed us to painting using a range... of resources such as cotton buds, big brushes, our fingers and so much more. We have also guessed what was inside of balloons (rice, sand, glitter, cotton balls, pine bark), put our feet onto different textures, dug our favourite toys out of frozen ice cubes ... the activity list goes on. Sensory play supports scientific thinking which involves inquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing, researching and investigating encourages a child to use their senses to discover new aspects. It delivers on Outcome 4 of the Early Years Learning Framework. See more
