18.01.2022 All four images come from the same photograph of an abandoned car... Rust transforms a metal surface which has been beaten by rain, scorched by the sun, and has stood firm during high winds... This process of slow decay reveals layers of colours and textures which can be enhanced and played with to make fascinating other worldly landscapes. Abstraction Series from Angela Spaldings exhibition on now at the gallery. (Price per framed print $175)

11.01.2022 Angela Spalding Photographic Exhibition Did you know that we currently have a photographic exhibition on at the gallery of works by Angela Spalding? Angela was recently living and working in central west Queensland.... During the recent travel restrictions, we filmed an interview between Angela and Heather Hale (Longreach Arts and Culture committee member). Angela talks to Heather about her creative process and what inspired her to rediscover her creative side after many years of not picking up a camera or paint brush. You will get to see some of Angelas beautiful photos too. So take your inspiration from Angela and get creative - whether thats drawing, painting, photography - its never too early or too late to start! https://youtu.be/vW6L6GWv0-U

10.01.2022 Boos Farwell. On Friday July 12 a great group of 30 people had morning smoko at QFOM with Boo Hanrick to say goodbye and share some stories. Boo is moving to the coast to be closer to her kids, grandkids and great grandkids It was in the 1970s that Boo was one of the prime movers in the establishment of the Arts & Crafts Centre. She must have spent hours filling out grant applications (mostly successful) as well as working tirelessly for the benefits of the Centre.... Over the years Boo assisted hundreds of people with patchwork, screen printing, paper making, pottery, painting and many other skills. She is a wonderful teacher and gave her time willingly and graciously. The Gallery at the Centre is another of her achievements. Along with several other ladies, they established the Upstairs Gallery which opened in 1979. Boo was also involved in with an organisation now known as VAST Arts, which from 1968 for many years organised The School of Creative Arts, a 6 day school with top class tutors all in the Central. We wish Boo continuing good health and happiness we know she will miss Longreach, but not as much as we shall miss her.

07.01.2022 In the central west we know that #water is a precious resource. Some of us have been lucky enough to experience good rain in the start of 2020 and we are seeing the changes this is making to the landscape and animals (and people!). Has anyone made the trip to #Brisbane to see the Water exhibition at Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art? Water highlights this precious resource and aims to spark conversations on the environmental and social challenges faced by the world today. #exhibitions #art #water #riverbed #inspiration #installation #centralwest #outback
