This piece was crafted by the ta...lented individuals at the Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa) Men’s Shed. It is made from Mulga (a type of acacia) and Mallee timber (from the eucalyptus family). The Coolamon (Urtne in the Arrernte language) is used to carry and protect both food and small babies. The artists wanted to create a connection to Keep Australia Beautiful encouraging care and protection for our future and our families. Thank you to Atyenhenge Atherre Aboriginal Corporation - AAAC and MacDonnell Regional Council for arranging for this year’s trophy to be made.
