The idea behind the reverse advent calendar is that each day you add one item to the box during the lead up to Christmas and on the 18th of December the boxes are delivered to York St Church. The boxes are then distributed to Ballarat families dealing with food insecurity. Those people within our community who were struggling with food insecurity prior to Covid-19 are now 43% more likely to now be going a whole day ...each week without eating. Last year the organisers behind Ballarat Reverse Advent Calendar campaign were blown away by the response from the community who filled over 1500 boxes and this year they are hoping to fill 2000. It is perfectly normal for wood ducks to do this because being up high gives them great security. The benefit is that by the time these kids get to school books are al...ready a part of their lives.
