20.01.2022 JACOB BOEHME ANNOUNCED AS LGI'S INAUGURAL FIRST NATIONS RESIDENT We are delighted to announce that Narangga and Kaurna artist Jacob Boehme will be the inaugural First Nations Resident at LGI in a new residency program created in partnership with BlakDance. Starting in 2021, this funded program will support one Senior First Nations artist each year with a fee, production support and four weeks of dedicated studio time at WXYZ Studios, as well as a range of other opportunities ...to deepen engagement with the local dance and First Nations communities. The annual resident will also play a key role in choosing the artist for the following year as part of a program designed with artistic self-determination at its core. This opportunity has been created through a new multi-year partnership between BlakDance and Lucy Guerin Inc. It reflects the organisations’ shared goal to support First Nations artists at various career stages and create stronger connections between First Nations artists and non-Indigenous organisations. 04.01.2022 E.MOTION 21 LGI was delighted to welcome e.motion21 to WXYZ Studios last week (following delays due to COVID-19) for the final stage of their Artistic Capacity Building pilot program. 03.01.2022 DANCE AND DRAMATURGY WORKSHOP FROM ADT What Matters Most: Dance and Dramaturgy in Turbulent Times is a two-part workshop involving 8 leading Australian and international choreographers. This is a great opportunity to be involved in a discussion on the role of dramaturgy in dance-making and hear from experienced practitioners who represent a vast diversity of approaches and methodologies.... Part 1 is a free, online two-hour discussion on 2 December from 6:30-8:30pm AEST. Registration required by 1 December via the link below. 01.01.2022 UPDATE: ONLINE CLASSES Classes for Small Spaces began in early April as a response to the beginning of COVID-19 restrictions. Since then, 18 teachers have taught 112 classes via Zoom, inspiring nearly 2,750 living room, backyard or balcony dances. Thanks to all who have taught, tuned in and supported this program from near and far. From next week, as those local restrictions continue to ease, we will be reducing the online program to one class per week: Friday yoga, taught f...rom WXYZ Studios.
