17.01.2022 We are proud to announce our partnership with the new community initiative: COOK4CALD A word from the founder "Our not for profit, summer program, COOK4CALD is completely community funded and volunteer run. ... We hope to feed individuals and their families of CALD background who’ve experienced hardship through the year, and could use a FREE home cooked meal every Sunday through summer. Meals are going to be prepared and delivered through the City of Casey, as well as suburbs: - Dandenong - North Dandenong - Noble park - Keysborough - Doveton - Rowville Food poverty and low socioeconomic status is a vulnerable topic to discuss for many, so we’re aiming to raise awareness of the issue whilst tackling it at the same time. Donations are currently being raised to begin our operations. Funds go directly to ingredients, community kitchen hire, sustainable packaging and materials. Community is at the heart of this program and engaging in likeminded groups will hopefully allow us to help as many people as possible." If you're interested in being a part of the program, have any questions or suggestions, reach out to us or them on FB/IG @COOK4CALD. Be sure to contribute in any way you can using the following link: https://www.mycause.com.au/page/237556/cook4cald

12.01.2022 Nigeria continues to face a humanitarian crisis. The Nigerian people just requested for SARS to be dismantled and for the prosecution of murderous police officers. Yet, the Nigerian government has retaliated by harming their own citizens. And despite mass video evidence, the Nigerian Army still has the audacity reject their acts of violence. ... The Buhari government has propograted corruption on all levels and continues to employ tactics to the detriment of Nigerians. Over 60 years of theft and abysmal leadership has culminated to where Nigeria is today - not to mention the lasting impact of European imperialism. But what's happening in Nigeria only scratches the surface of injustices occuring around Africa. The people of Congo, Liberia, Namibia, South Sudan and many more nations are hurting and dying. It's exhausting for us to wake up everyday and see infographics saying "What's going on in [Country name] ?" So we can't imagine the pain and trauma the people living in these nations are coping with. We'll continue standing in solidarity with those at the frontline of these protests and we commend their immense bravery. Continue supporting organisations like "The Feminist Coalition" that'll forever be a staple in Nigerian history. Our thoughts and condolences are with those that have been affected by these tragedies.
