23.01.2022 NATIONAL SPEEDWAY UPDATE FOR THIS WEEKEND Today’s government announcement that non-essential organised gatherings of 500 or more people are discouraged from Mon...day will have an impact on the sport in the coming weeks, and Speedway Australia will support the tough decisions that venues have to make. In the meantime, with the decision not effective until Monday, speedway will still be happening at a number of venues around the country. Please get out and support them if you are in a position to do so, while taking all necessary precautions. Here is the list of tracks that were scheduled to run this weekend, and their current status. 07.01.2022 New Home For Developing Sprintcar Drivers In WA [Press Release, 17.04.20] A new series has been developed to replace the current 360 Power Series, called the SA...WA Sprintcar Series. The mission statement of the new SAWA Sprintcar Series reads simply provide an opportunity for new and lower funded Sprintcar competitors to race across WA in a competitive but fun affordable environment. The SAWA Sprintcar Series is aimed at new/ lower budget 410 competitors and 360 competitors who wish to develop their skills before venturing up to the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series. An eight round series for the inaugural season is proposed with all tracks based within 250km of Perth, to keep it affordable for competitors. We understand this is a big change for competitors and many will be seeking answers to questions. Further information on formats, handicap system, rules and driver eligibility will be made clear during an online forum to be held in May that interested competitors and team owners may attend. 01.01.2022 COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY LIFTED IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA The Western Australian State Government have today announced further easing of COVID-19 re...strictions with Phase Four of the roadmap to recovery to be implemented from this Saturday 27th June 2020. Things will be eased even further from Saturday 18th July 2020 with Phase Five coming into effect which will see the removal of every restriction with the exception of the hard border to the other states and territories. The news has been welcomed by the many Speedway clubs and associations across the state with racing already recommencing in the last two weekends during phase three restrictions which allowed gatherings of up to three hundred people. From this Saturday 27th June 2020 the two square metre per person rule remains with limits for gatherings to be removed completely with the exception of large sporting staduims which can operate at fifty percent capacity. A number of Speedway venues in Western Australia had tentatively scheduled race meetings during the month of July which will now be able to go ahead without the concern of gathering restrictions. The 33rd Annual Far Western Championships to be held at the Shark Bay Speedway on Saturday 11th July 2020 already has a bumper line up of Speedway Sedans Australia categories entered with today's news a welcome boost for the event.
