17.01.2022 RESULTS 18/04/2015 April Monthly Medal: The first of seven Monthly Medal events was played last Saturday with much improved Course conditions resulting from rain over the previous 24 hours. It was great to play some golf without the dusty conditions and to be able to see some small degree of green-ness appearing on the fairways. A return to play by past ... Ladies Captain Eileen Grindley was welcomed , but for the second week running the company of Maureen McQuillan was missed as she continues to struggle with a back injury. The Monthly Medal was a stroke event with member Reno Cutajar presenting the prizes. 21 players contested the days play and competition was fierce between low handicappers Russell Healy and Spike Long , and the golfer of the moment Peter Gerolemou ( although Peter needs to watch his back as Handicapper Russell is having a real close look at his recent hot scores ) A three way tie between these players will mean that at next months Monthly Medal , they will have a play off to determine the April winner. 16.01.2022 President v Captain With this seasons golf underway after last weekends opening day of the 2 person team event, all attentions turned to Saturday with the first individual event. A field of 15 players hit off and anticipation was high that with the improving course conditions, some really good scores would be carded. Lots of banter and bravado was evident between President Mark and Captain Jeremy for honours on the day, and it was obvious that Mark had come to play as the pla...ying group was strengthened by wife Kim and brother Noel for that extra bit of morale. Against these odds though, you knew that Jeremy would come out fighting and ensure a competitive game. Play in the first 7 holes was evenly matched but an errant tee shot by Mark on the 8 th even had the crows calling their anguish as the shot headed one fairway wide to the perimeter fence of the 9 th hole. It is thought that it was at this period of the game, Jeremy may have been rehearsing his winners speech but as play continued, alas he had under-estimated the President. On the 14 th hole, Mark not only took out honours for play of the day but will be hard to oust for play of the year award. His tee shot of 245 metres landed on the putting surface of the scrape, just 3 metres from the hole and he confidently holed the putt for an eagle 2.a 2 shot advantage over Captain Jeremy. After the final hole was played, Jeremy had an excellent score of 70 off the stick but was tied with Mark on the adjusted handicap score, with the count-back favouring Mark as the days winner. 14.01.2022 RESULTS 25/04/2015 Anzac Day - Peter G on fire Rapid improvement in the condition of the course due to recent rains and on-going course maintenance by members, particularly Andrew, Russell, John and Jeremy, delighted the playing group in last weekends event. All grassed areas of the fairways and surrounds of the sand-scrapes are now a picture of green and a ... welcome addition from the dry and dusty summer experiences. Anzac Day play was a Stableford event with prizes by Norm Madigan (though absent on the day as he plotted a remarkable football win by his Doggies over Adelaide Crows ) For another week, Peter Gerolemou escaped the attentions of the Handicapper to add another trophy to his growing Cabinet and to record a close win on a count-back from Hutch. RESULTS Winner Peter Gerolomou On Count-back 40 points Runner-up Garry Hutchins 40 points Good Scores Mark Brasser 39 points Andrew Fitzpatrick 38 points Nearest the Pin Andrew Fitzpatrick Hole 11 It is really encouraging to see junior golfer Aiden Brasser sticking with his game and mixing it with senior membersshould not be too long until he challenges father Mark in a game or two.
