25.01.2022 SEVERE #THUNDERSTORM warning for damaging wind gusts has been issued for parts of the #Sydney Metro, #CentralCoast and #Hunter forecast districts. Sever...e thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Cessnock, Sydney, Parramatta, Wyong, The Entrance, Woy Woy, Wollombi and Kulnura. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500. The next warning is due to be issued by 6:00 pm. If severe thunderstorms develop in Sydney Newcastle Wollongong or surrounding areas, a more detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued to people in this area. 22.01.2022 Crews on scene at today’s Hazard Reduction - the wind has got up a bit but all fine so far. Some embers and flames visible. If you can go the other way and not Fishery Point road that’s would be a help to crews on scene.



20.01.2022 Due to warm, dry and windy conditions the first total fire ban will be in place for the 2020/21 fire season. Very high fire danger is forecast for north east NS...W on Fri 25 September, with a total fire ban to be in force for the Far North Coast. Check and review your bush fire survival plan. See more

17.01.2022 Fire agencies will conduct a number of hazard reduction burns around the Sydney area on Tue 8 September. Smoke from these burns may settle across a number of su...burbs on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Smoke is expected to clear early Wednesday with a southerly change and rain forecast. There are a number of other burns programmed around the state including near Tamworth, Port Macquarie and across the Clarence Valley. See more

11.01.2022 The new online portal giving NSW residents the ability to quickly and easily notify us of when they’re planning to use fire on their property is now live. Members of the public can now use their mobile phone or desktop computer to lodge their notifications about planned hazard reductions or burn offs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify

11.01.2022 Mandalong was out yesterday with Martinsville Rural Fire Brigade and Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade on a hazard reduction in Martinsville. A great day out with these two brigades and a great learning experience for our crew. Looking forward to working with our neighbouring crews in the future.

09.01.2022 INCIDENT CALL | Crews made quick work of extinguishing a Motor Vehicle Fire this evening in Mandalong. Thanks to the prompt response of volunteer firefighters f...rom Cooranbong Rural Fire Brigade and Mandalong Rural Fire Brigade, the fire was stopped before it could spread into nearby bushland. Thank you to the members who responded to the call.

09.01.2022 Due to covid, Mandalong RFS hasnt opened it doors. While we regularly attend the station you are welcome to call in at any time. We have a strong process of sanitisation and social distancing on site as well as masks if required. This video gives landowners valuable tips though what they should be doing this GET READY weekend. Friday, 18th September Seahampton HDC HR - 22 hectares, HDC & Lake Macquarie Council, east of Fourth Street, George Booth Dr & M1 Pacific Motorway, Seahampton, commencing at approximately 9:00am and to be completed by approximately 7:00pm. Rennie HR 9 hectares, Private Property 100 Narara Rd, Cooranbong, commencing at approximately 9:00am and to be completed by approximately 7:00pm. Saturday, 19th September Acacia FT Stage 2 HR - 2 hectares, Central Coast Council, Pacific Highway, west of Colongra Bay Rd, Lake Munmorah, commencing at approximately 9:00am and to be completed by approximately 7:00pm. There will be smoke and fire activity visible from local roadways during and after the hazard reduction operation. Motorists in this area should slow down and take care if driving through smoke, including keeping windows up and turning their headlights on. Residents in this area should take the appropriate precautions including keeping doors and windows closed, remove washing from clothes lines and ensure any pets are in a protected area. Residents may also experience discoloured water due to firefighters extracting water from the water mains during the hazard reduction operation. Please note that the hazard reduction may be re-scheduled should weather conditions be inappropriate. Ongoing patrols of the burn will be conducted as required. PREPARE. ACT. SURVIVE.

A southerly change is currently moving up the coast which will help clear most of the smoke from the Sydney area.
