But, now it’s just time for a little something for me while I make breakfast. ... 24.01.2022 FRIDAY FOCUS - This quote for me is also a reminder to not make assumptions on someone's health from their physical appearance. A lot of people look at a slim person (I hate using the word skinny), and think they are the picture of health, but that is not necessarily true. They may just have been blessed with a great metabolism and genes. I was called skinny A LOT growing up and absolutely hated it. It was an insult to me because it always seemed to come with an "how dare you... be skinny when I'm not" implication. It always felt like such a negative and judgemental comment. Despite being "skinny" I definitely wasn't very healthy with my food choices and exercise. Health is more than just your outward appearance. We all have different body types and shape. Celebrate your body and don't make someone else feel bad for theirs. #fridayfocus #friyay #healthandwellness #health #bodyimage #everybodyisbeatiful #celebrateyoursize #inspiration #healthinspiration #fridayquote #fridayinspiration

24.01.2022 WEDNESDAY WELLNESS - let's talk health insurance Not a very inspirational topic is it? And, many people have different views about it. But, what I'm sure we can all agree on is that prevention and education can be the key to improving your chances of staying healthy. Taking small steps to learn about taking care of your mental and physical health can save thousands in doctor's fees, not to mention the actual feeling and consequences of not being healthy.... Get to know your body and what it needs to be healthy. Look into the follow ideas: 1. Get a physical from your doctor - check hormone levels (ask for ALL of them to be checked), iron levels, blood pressure etc. What area could you improve? What is the best way to go about that for your body? 2. Experiment with exercising at different times of the days to find out what your body responds best to. 3. Learn what your body type is, and what foods or type of exercise could would best. There is an amazing program called ph360.com that also has an app. You fill out a bunch of information and it lets you know what body type you have. It then provides suggestions for the best type of foods for your body to have and to avoid (as well a plethora of recipes), and the best types of exercise and the best time to exercise. It also gives you a schedule of the best sleeping times, productivity times and a multitude of other suggestions personalised to you and your health journey. It does cost money, but it is a great starting point to get some ideas and then you can always cancel your subscriptions. I highly recommend taking a day each week where you just eat fruits, vegetables and nuts.... #rawfood #eatraw #eatarainbow #freshjuice #homemadejuice #detox #cleanse #zoodles

18.01.2022 WHAT?! PANCAKES CAN BE HEALTHY? Well, maple syrup is the sneaky treat on top which doesn’t really provide nutritional benefits and is mostly just sugar....but, you can easily swap that for honey, date syrup or agave syrup. This recipe is so quick and easy to make! Swipe for the recipe.... To add even more nutrition to this recipe, swap the eggs for chia eggs. Mix 2 tbsp chia seeds with about 12 tbsp of water and let sit for 5 minutes. I also use a plant based milk, such as almond milk. This recipe really serves 4, I don’t know why I wrote 2. Maybe I was super hungry at the time Enjoy #pancakeday #pancakes #healthypancakes #nutrition #chiaegga #eatclean #eathealthy #health #healthy #healthyrecipe #healthyfood #healthy foods #healthyfoodideas #nutritiousanddelicious #bananas #bananapancakes #sundaybrunch

17.01.2022 FRIDAY FOCUS - ain't none of us going to ever reach what we think is perfection. All we can do is take one day at a time working towards our goals, whether it be choosing a healthy snack over a sugary one, or just doing a 15min workout instead of 30mins because time is short or your just not feeling it. It's ok to not meet your goals sometimes, as long as we know we have kept working towards them. Progress is the key word NOT PERFECTION! #fridayfocus #friyay #fridayinspiration #inspirationalquote #healthandwellness #wellness #progressnotperfection #progress

16.01.2022 FRIDAY FOCUS - where is your focus? Some people are naturally gifted at looking to the positive and some towards the "reality" as my husband likes to put it (but really it's just pessimism right?!) Take some time today and this week to focus on where there are possibilities. Where can you see a possibility to help someone, to make a wise decision, to take a step towards a goal, or to start a new habit. Where are you going to put your focus?

15.01.2022 WEDNESDAY WELLNESS (BELATED) I've been home all week with sinusitis and lost track of what day it is! But, we can't miss out on the Wednesday Wellness quote of the week. By nature, I'm a bit of a control freak, which is perhaps why I like primary teaching. It allows you, in some respects, to be a bit of your own boss with how you do things in your classroom :) ... Life throws us so many curveballs, as 2020 has proven, which we really don't get any control over. But, at least we do have control over how we take care of ourselves; how we eat, if we exercise or not, getting sunshine, drinking enough water, taking time out to relieve stress. YOU CAN HAVE CONTROL over your choices to help lead a healthier and happier life. Take a step today to take back control of your health and wellness. #health #wellness #wellbeing #curveballs #control #controlfreak #healthandwellness #takecontrol #choices #wednesday #wednesdaywellness #wellnessquote #healthquote #inspirationquote #inspiration #takecareofyou #selfcare #takecharge

09.01.2022 HEALTH IS NOT ABOUT MISSING OUT! Most people associate being healthy with missing out on all the good stuff. That's not what it is about at all. You can still be healthy and not starve yourself of the things you enjoy. I like to think about being healthy as just finding new routines and habits that you enjoy, but will enhance your physical and mental health. For example, just swap out something you know isn't so good for you with something that provides more nutritional value..., such as brown rice instead of white. Don't focus on having to remove and miss out on something, but on ENHANCING the nutritional value for your body and mind! Maybe that means parking in the furtherest spot from the entrance to the supermarket so you get more steps in :) Create those positive habits that will provide those long term benefits. But, remember that it doesn't mean that you have miss out on enjoying your favourite foods.

08.01.2022 WEDNESDAY WELLNESS - remember that when we talk about health, it includes both the physical and mental. Did you know that your gut and your brain have a communication highway between the two? What we eat affects how we feel (our emotions) and some of the choices we make. But also, what we think and feel affects what we eat. There is a lot of research that show the significance of this connection, therefore it is really important to be aware of this gut-brain axis. A healthy ...gut helps promote a healthy brain, and a healthy brain helps promote a healthy gut. This is why stress plays such a big part in your physical health! What can you do to work on your happiness today? Maybe it means choosing an apple over a Tim Tam, getting some exercise, starting a thankfulness journal, forgiving someone who hurt you, checking in with your gut health, seeing a councellor to check in with your mental health, take something off your plate to reduce your stress. It is going to mean something different for everyone. When we eat good, we feel good; when we think good, we feel good. When we feel good, we can share the love with others. #wednesdaywellness #humpday #healthandwellness #mentalhealth #guthealth #happiness #happinessquote #health #goodhealth #choices #stressmanagement #stress

08.01.2022 RAW FOOD CAN BE DELICIOUS! Believe it or not, there are some really enjoyable ways to eat raw. 07.01.2022 DELICIOUS GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE I just can’t get into smoothies when the weather is cold. All I want for breakfast then is porridge or some form of eggs on toast. Now that the weather is warming up here (sporadically at least) I’m loving having smoothies again. I always incorporate greens into my smoothies, usually in the form of kale, as my iron levels are typically on the low side. Several years ago my Dr wanted to put me on iron tablets as I was borderline anaemic, which... he said would likely give me bloating and constipation. I said yeah, nah and decided to up my iron rich foods. I started putting kale in EVERYTHING, and within one month I had quadrupled my iron levels. It frustrates me that Doctors often go to pills as the first point of call for treating patients. While I 100% agree that they have their place in healthcare and are necessary at times, food can also be medicine and is too often overlooked. Ok, rant over. Here’s today’s yummy and nutritious green smoothie recipe RECIPE (2 serves) 1/2 cup rolled oats 2 tbsp chia seeds 1 1/2 cups coconut water 1 mango 1 banana 1 1/2 cups chopped pineapple 3 large kale leaves 2 packed cups of baby spinach Optional additions: ice cubes, LSA, honey, handful of mint leaves or parsley, 1/4 cup shredded coconut 1. Add rolled oats, chia seeds and coconut water to blender jug. Let sit for 5 - 10 minutes while you get dressed or prep other ingredients. 2. Add all other ingredients and blend well. #smoothie #greensmoothie #smoothierecipes #smoothierecipe #greensmoothies #greensmoothierecipe #eatclean #breakfast #breakfastidea #nutrition #eatclean #healthyrecipe #healthybreakfast #healthybreakfastideas #healthybreakfastrecipes #healthyeating #healthiswealth #healthyliving #mango #mangoseason

05.01.2022 SELF-CARE SUNDAY (smoothie & mask recipe) Sunshine, smoothie and face mask time I love all the summer fruits that are around now and cheap! Smoothies are my favourite breakfast meal when the weather warms up. Here’s my first smoothie recipe of Spring:... (Makes 2 serves) 1/4 cup rolled oats 1 tbsp chia seeds 1 1/2 cups coconut water 1 banana 3 large Kale leaves 6 large strawberries 1/4 cup blueberries Soak rolled oats and chia seeds in the coconut water while preparing the rest of the ingredients. Then, add very thing and blend. Add more coconut water if needed. You all know how much I love face masks, they are part of my Sunday morning routine (90% of the time). At the moment, I’m loving white kaolin clay, so that is forming the base of my mask today: 2 tsp white kaolin clay 1/2 tsp raw honey 1 drop lavender essential oil Apple cider vinegar to make a paste I love this combo because the clay helps to draw out impurities, the honey is antibacterial (fights acne and blackheads) and soothing, the apple cider vinegar balances skin pH and tones, and the lavender is also antibacterial and soothing. 01.01.2022 FRIDAY FOCUS - I'm so guilty of letting busyness take over and ending up unintentionally being selfish with my time and resources, forgetting to look out for others and how I can help them. This weekend's goal is to look for ways to bless other people, not so that I will receive a blessing in return, but so they can pay it forward and maybe lots of people will find a reason to feel loved, appreciated and to smile. #friday #friyay #fridayinspiration #fridayfocus #inspiration #inspirationalquote #blessothers #beablessing #serveothers #weekendgoals
